HIV viruses are incapable of lasting very long before being destroyed without finding a host cell to infect. They can't infect any cells within a mosquito, and would therefore eventually "die" (if you can say viruses, which aren't alive in the first place, can die). Mosquitoes suck blood and digest it-that would also probably destroy any viruses incapable of infecting and reproducing within the mosquito. The malaria parasite, West Nile virus, etc, are all capable of this, however.

Thanks for that, I usually go for NTSB reports, but sometimes it is hard to forgien Crash data. I had a tough time finally getting the report on the p-38 crash ( not really pilot error, but yet Probable cause "obstruction by, or reaching for, object(s) in cockpit, caused PIC to lose awarness of his closeness to the ground, causing the crash") another real tragic crash.

Hi, The No1 engine carb was adjusted incorrectly following an off-site overhaul at a specialist and on-site refit (no-body set up the float chamber needle valve stops). As the r/h roll was arrested, the local negative G on No1 caused the needle valve to fully close cutting the fuel flow. With the a/c so close to Vmc, climbing steeply, steeply banked and assymetric, Kevin Moorhouse was unable to maintain control of it. The results are, as they say, history. The guy didn't stand a chance...

Well, there are two (2) being re-built right now, one in Canada, one in NZ. The restoration team stated for a "all wooden" aircraft, there is an awful lot of metal!! And you need a HECK of a lot of items to build a from scratch Mossie, Jigs,Blue prints, engines, large hanger etc.etc. It is a large and complex task!!! should see both re-builds active in 2009/10

No need my dear armchair hero. Kevin Moorhouse, the 10,000hr test pilot in command of RR299 when she crashed died on impact along with the Flight Engineer. I hope that satisfies your thirst for blood. I assume that before posting your offensive remarks you read the full AAIB report before deciding it was wrong and Kevin Moorhouse just crashed it because he was a bad pilot? If not, perhaps you should read the report before voicing your uninformed opinions about dead pilots.

The Mosquito did not fall apart in WWII. It was one of the strongest,lightest and fastest combat aircraft of the War!. It regularly took more damage than aluminium aircraft and was not subject to fatigue cracking. It could carry a B-17 sized bomb load at higher speeds over similar distances with a crew of 2 and in bomber versions, unarmed! PR versions could outrun every German (or allied aircraft) except the ME 262.

Yes, it was at bovingdon. they also filmed some of the battle of britain stuff there. A school friend was an air cadet at the time, and they were allowed to go to the airfield and he came back with photos of a couple of Me109's and bombers. I can remember being very small and my dad taking me there, when they had b17's there for an open day and him lifting me up into the bomb hatch. Can't put a date on it though.. (dads gone)

Actually, it's an old tale that mosquitoes suck blood. What they actually suck (suck itself is a poor verb choice as the animal's proboscis actually uses a pumping, not a sucking, mechanism) the sweat and sebum from human sweat glands. Sweat is highly nutritious and loaded with minerals and riboflavin. The red apearance of the abdomen is actually from the mosquito's own blood. This is why you can't get AIDS from a mosquito bite, because no blood is exchanged when the animal pumps out the sebum.

Well I think Etienne Roda-Gil is the man "without imagination" who wrote the lyrics. In other words one of the greatest French songwriters. I remember renting this movie with the movie "Tucker" in the late 80's. This film came out in '86 and I think it was a good movie for the times even now. I liked the opening theme music to this film. This one was cast out of fiberglass several years ago. We used a plywood mold, waxed it and fibered it with long thick cloth strips. The frame is 1/2" square tubing welded as this tank had to be move a lot. The tank has one inlet and two jets. It pumps 8GPM. We also made one out of 16" PVC cut in half. The corners were elbows. The cost was about the same but a lot easier. I think the pipe came from a plumbing supply specialist. Lowes only goes up to 6".

Yes, to some degree. Some tadpoles are strictly herbivores and do not eat larvae but many do. Even the herbivore only tadpoles have some effect as they compete with mosquito larvae for food. Any over abundance of mosquito larvae can reduce the growth rate of tadpoles and large flourishing populations of tadpoles can limit mosquito larvae gestation. There are some concerns that mosquito fish introduced to feed on mosquito larvae can also destroy tadpoles. This can devastate frog populations.

Well, what seems to be common in the "algae fuel" videos are vertical bags or clear PVC tubing. Either would work. Check out Glen Kertz method. That shouldn't be too difficult to duplicate. Growing it should be easy, but I haven't seen a good "oil extraction" demo on youtube yet. There is mention of ultrasonics, microwave and compression methods mentioned but no videos of it. Algae is the next big thing.

Our large 20000 gallon fish pond has Koi and water hyacinths. Last summer the water hyacinths did not reproduce? The top layer of the pond developed 2" layer of algae in 3 days. I manually removed it with a 5 gallon bucket. All together it was about 1500 gallons of mucky water. When the algae comes back this year I will try and harvest it out of the pond. ANY UNIQUE ideas for breeding ponds (clear bags, barrels etc) I am open to ideas. Thank you for the comment.

The park slide thing was from an old carnival fishing game. Like a kiddy duck pond. The pump does 10 gpm when there are no tadpoles to get sucked in. There are frogs and lizards everywhere, around our place. I wanted to get a video of a tadpole eating a larvae but they get spooked when I get close. The tadpoles are only 1/4" to 1/2".

Exhaust counter torque is not used in a helicopter with a tail rotor. The only helicopters that use exhaust as a counter torque are the Hughes/MD 520N and the 600N Helicopters with NOTAR which stands for No-Tail-Rotor.

the engine is what is expensive. The engine has to be over , i'm guessing 50K ? The chopper maybe no more than 25K ? Ohh, then avionics plays into that. Super cool though, this is the way to have an aircraft.
