is the gtst the rwd n/a model? idk...i just know that the amuse is a very specialized car...im sure that with chassis tuning, engine tuning, carbon fibre body, etc...a camry could beat a supra. but supra has amazing stock chassis dynamics and engine imo and is a better platform to start tuning on than a gtr...new gtr is in another league though lol.

I mostly agree with what ya said... both cars are beyond impressive, and have ridiculous power potentials... but sorry, Supra doesnt hold crown for highest potential. On the contrary, a gt-st actually holds a land speed record haha. Also, the Amuse GT-R34 is on it's way to surpassing it. 2J engines are indeed amazing, but that does not facilitate them being top of the JDM supercars. Semper Fi

what we can learn from this is that the supra is a faster car on the circuit. it handles better than the skyline and has slightly better acceleration due to lower curb weight. plus it looks better and its rwd so it doesnt understeer as much. even talking about modified cars, the supra, with its chassis and engine, always has the potential to be the best of them all.

People, at the end of the day this is a RACE. The only way you can say with any degree of accuracy that one car is better than another, is to control nearly all the variables. This means: the same driver, the same circuit, same track conditions, and taking a single average from at least 3 flying laps. Races are entertaining but you cannot control the human factor - one driver better than another or making a mistake; better track position going into a corner and "closing the door", etc

Can anyone explain WTF Gan-san was washing the windscreen (just before the Supra passed him). I love BM videos but they are far from a 100% accurate way of displaying a car's true potential. Half the time they put a few amateur drivers in there; I think the RX-7 would have done better with a better driver - check out 2'49. WTF?? The Supra is underrated, but don't forget R33 GT-R was the first car to lap the Nurburgring under 8'00 excluding the XJ220. I'm curious as to how the Supra would do.

Its true theoretically that the 86 and the FD is more overall balanced and is one of the keys to dominate. However, as far as I know there isnt many tuners that can even properly tune Supras at all. So chances are we have yet to see the true potential of the Supra because even Orido, havent bothered to tune that car to its limits. So I just hope to see someone bring out the potential of these machines so others would stop viewing it at its current point of view compared to the gtr, and so on.

the supra is a good car stock. but if you have actually seen all of best motoring, and not just one ore two videos/races, you'll see that a modified ae86 beats a stock supra and gtr on the track. and that the modified rx7 (by feed/r.e.a.) beats ALL the top supra's and gtr's. i've also seen rotary power drag cars do 6s quarters. so dragging is all pretty close between them. however, if driven by a good driver, the lighter rx7 and 86 will always be quicker on the back-roads (if they're not stock).

That's why the Supra is my favorite car. I love how the video shows how the Supra and Skyline were rivals in those days. Just after a lap they are off the gang battling for first place. But Supra was better, better cornering and more torque (2JZ-GTE). Even if it's big it really does well on the track even bone stock.

IF that was the case, the Skylines would never have sold as well as they did. They performed so well over the years the Cup was renamed the Skyline Cup. Turbo's can be very dependable. How you set them up is another matter,and if you produce even a mild boost with well matched cams and so forth you can have response,torque and HP where you want it when you want it.

while yes this programs videos do show some value's of these types of battles, the one thing that's always outweighed is the drivers. like, the NA drivers are way higher classed drivers. and who the driver is makes a huge difference.

NA is way better than turboz. The turbo cars r slipping n sliding,the power delivery isnt smooth n not there all the time,they r going to end up in the ditch n take other cars with them. The MR-S let the turbo pass him. Besides the incredibly high temp in the turbo cars is going to take a toll,a longer race n they wont even finish. NA is the way to go.

I think they should of used the j's racing s2000 that thing is nuts in all fairness and with that mr-s if it was tuned to what the s2000 power output it would of made those s14 and s15 only good point about the turbo is even though you have to wait to get your full boost you get a great surge of power and torque it showed on the uphill and down the straights in all fairness the NA was better in that race proved that you just don't need a fast car in a straight line needs the cornering ability

i would still take the F1 over the veyron F1 seats 3 and has more trunk space in 3 locations compared to bugatti which only seats 2 and has one tiny trunk in the front. F1 corners better too due to central driving position and is far much lighter :-)

yeah it would be awesome, especially to see how to cars designed with completely opposite philosophies, compare to each other. The guy who designed the McLaren wrote a few articles in Motor Trend about the Veyron and came to respect it. I once read if a Veyron took off when a McLaren passes it doing 120, the Veyron will beat it to 200.

thats because the ae86 ur talkin about is a full gutted race car weighing just a little over 1000 pounds running on racing slick tires in dry conditions. This McLaren F1 however is still in full street trim and running on crappy street tires that dont grip like racing slicks. That plus the track conditions are wet thus the 1'04" time. Still pretty fast for wet on Tsukuba.

Thats true, but the mclaren's engine is normaly aspriated, no turbos. And at it's time, over 100hp on a na engine was quite an archivement. Throw in turbos and todays computer tech and the F1 would fly even higher;)

that was a 4 cylinder 1.8 Liter (actually a few of them) that walked down that v6 all wheel drive high compression vehicle. as an everyday car and being far superior to others... I'm not sure you have a leg to stand on because you're going off of opinion. feel what you want to feel but VW will need turbo like you said to match up with that integra's engineering.R32's a nice car but i don't understand why not accept what happened.

As a new R32 owner, I can say that I'm sorry the VW didn't place 2nd or 1st. But as an everyday car it's far superior to the others. Just wait till the new VW GTI-R comes out in '09. 265hp turbo(or maybe twin?) 5-cylinder with all the extras. Wow!

The other day I was on my way to work, I was in the outer lane and the lights were just turning green, so I stayed at around 40mph, I saw some headlights coming real fast, it was a new BMW M3, he slowed alongside me, and then floored it, I swear it was like a big bike! Hey! Lol, I had 4 Honda's so I'm not biased, but a 1 series BMW although a good car in its own right is like a poor mans model, the R32 is understated compared to the Evo's and STi's but I like that, I dont like the attention from huge spoilers, the thieves look for fancy cars. My car is an everyday car and gets me from A to B that's it! if I wanted a track car, I'd buy back my TVR Tuscan. I bought a brand new S2000, and yes it had factory fitted spoliers and the GT hardtop, but I got sick of the screaming engine and the crap everday handling as it rains a lot in the UK. £28,000 it cost me, 6 months later I sold it. So Honda are NOT cheap esp when you look at the NSX!! My R32 does a much better job and its an AUTO + slightly faster than the S2000, so a hatchback beating a great looking 2 seater is really bad! same price?? work that out!

WTF?! The japs and their bloody nsx eh? They'll always find some way of chucking it in. "That F35 fighter is very nice, but I can't help feeling the NSX could carry 2 sets of golf clubs better". As for the tires - the most important part of any car, and the standard ones with the GT are probably a fairly dated model. The only reason the GTR is so quick is it's tires (was it 10, 15 seconds it lost round the ring with it's optional Bridgestones?)

That is Manabu Orido driving, not Tsuchiya Keiichi! Only one person has said that in the comments. I don't even recall hearing Tsuchiya Keiichis' name said once in that clip. Even for those who don't know Japanese you can, at the very least, understand peoples names. It would have been nice if it was him. Its rare to see Tsuchiya driving a FC3S. Let alone drifting one. More likely to see him drifting a S2000 and most likely a FD3S. Those cars are difficult to drift even for Tsuchiya.

well, yes and no because my last drifter weighed in at like 2100lbs & put out 208 after the cold air & a good tune which makes about 10hp/lb. I ran a chevelle that topped 3600 and ran 400hp which is only 12 or 13hp/lb and with the 1.5 foot loner wheelbase they come out about even.

quite surprised how the z evolved through the years as it got nothing but bad reviews up to 06. nissan is doing well for what they got...but the story is in the 1 series..i'm not convinced of that motor or the mods just yet. that was the hartge 135i and supposed to put 350whp and 6 pot brakes but didnt show in lap times?? and they were saying it was an m3 killer...m3 is the king like it or not especially if you extend that track a little more...135 had nothing to show ...Z was impressive!

While I love the M3, my favorite car is the 135i. Its much lighter than an M3 and you could tune the twin turbo engine much easier. You could easily tune it up to match the power of the M3.
