David Ruffin 1975 - "Walk Away From Love" MOTOWN-163 Posted by: MotownMagic1959
Video duration: 199 seconds Global video hits: 57845 David Ruffin recorded this on Motown label rather than the Soul label he was on, not that long after in the early 80's he died (mentioned in the brilliant film "The Temptations"-1998), a departure from my Classic 60's Motown for a change, and was a US Gold disc! Yes, he was such a brilliant composer, I liked Norman Whitfield, and Mickey Stevenson too, they were so talented and composed some never forgotten tunes. JOHN

Another wonderful Van McCoy composition is The Marvelettes' "When You're Young and in Love"

I love this record from the one and only David Ruffin. written and produce by Mr "Hustle" Van McCoy. I have the longer version of this record Great!

Amazing recording. Van McCoy changes the typical Motown sound a little bit. It is sad that things didn't really work out that well for either the Temptations or David Ruffin after they parted ways.

We are going to get O.J. out of that Cell. A Jealous man will never make a lover. He is going to come out of this. Watch! Something is really wrong with men and you know: sizes, IF you know what I mean.

Yes, you are right reggie44 Van McCoy was a brilliant producer and composer, and a particular favourite of mine. JOHN

This was produced by R&B legend Van McCoy ("The Hustle"), who worked mostly out of Philly and NYC early on.

I so love David Ruffin. His voice is just the best. I love his sound. This man had true soul and I'm so sorry that he is gone. He was the Best Temptation if you ask me.

What a song. One of the greatest recordings of all time in the history of music.Check out the high notes he hits in this fabulous song. And, just when you think he hit the "top" he goes even HIGHER - it's just ultra fabulous. The background female vocalists are doing fabulous things to serve the great David Ruffin well. The music(the full orcherstration)totally happening. The flow and feel of this recording is way beyond the horizon.

Sadly 123djblive I don't have that version you seek, is it from his "Who I Am" album which I don't have, either! the only "I Miss You" I know is by Marv Johnson! I have looked in Motown's catalogue and although there are many singles by David on the MOTOWN label since 1969 (including some unreleased), there isn't any trace of it, do you know the exact date of this track? JOHN

At the end of choruses,(breaks my heart) David sounds like he's singing through tears! Very touching. As good as anything he did with the temps.

Also a very good version of this song is by Bitty McLean. Has a little jamaican touch to it
