in tactical situations you always have contingencies and one is failure of your main weapon. either malfunction, out of ammo, or it doesnt suit the purpose. fast switching is a concern and should be dealt with during the gear selection phase. crossdraw vest work well for this situation where a weapon slung around your body could get in the way of a side holster. not that either is better but trying both to figure what works with your gear setup is ideal. crossdraw work bette rwith standard sling

what happened to your rifle for you to switch over to the pistol?
By: supercomet32. on 30 Nov 08, 00:13:04
the .40 and 10mm are the same round basically and honestly it is my round of choice for hand guns and subs like the mp5. however when you deploy as a soldier you are bound to only using nato approved rounds. 45 and 9mm
By: supercomet32. on 30 Nov 08, 00:10:43
you don tknow shit about who i am or where ive been. as for how i know, my unit has been to iraq 4 times and afghanistan twice. we also fought in the balkans. i have been deployed several times to all of those regions and have been under fire in all of them. so ge tyour facts straight before you prove your ignorance
By: m3l3madn3ssTF1. on 29 Nov 08, 23:58:38
you havnt shot shit in iraq buddy... if you were a iraqi freedom vet....you wouldnt be on youtube.
By: shkotay. on 28 Nov 08, 15:38:43
Weight (bullets and weapons and gear etc) has always been an issue but I am on the side of put em down as fast as you can and a .45 does the trick in 1 to 2 rounds. 7.62 is a one hit deal as well with great guns like the MK17 SCAR-H, and the old but classy M14 (which has a hell of a kick). As for 10mm, I didnt know they made it anymore. Used to be 10mm MP5s out there (havent stayed current). I can never figure out why they stopped making them.
By: AERO1779. on 28 Nov 08, 02:05:43
.40 S&W is good however check out the 10 mm! It is a .40 cal magnum. My brother has a 10 mm Glock and he loves it.
By: hardman476. on 27 Nov 08, 04:38:30
9mm will do the job more then enough if you target is not more then 50 yards and you fire 2 rounds! 45acp is nice but its a heavier bullet which have a steeper flight path then a 9mm. me personly i'm learning towards a .40 s&w best of borth worlds
By: hardman476. on 27 Nov 08, 04:35:17
maby becuase 9mm handguns are designed mainly for 25 yards!! stopping power is still there at 50 yards if you hit your target! pistols are not made for shooting at people passed 50 yards stick to your 5.56mm
By: Treblaine. on 26 Nov 08, 23:20:02
It's clear that .45 is deadlier than 9mm, just like 7.62x51mm is deadlier than 5.56x45mm. The point is armies all over the world have moved from 7.62 to 5.56mm and from .45 to 9mm. Though 7.62mm is no longer popular with riflemen, it lives on in the role of sniper and machine gun calibre, that really could never be replaced by 5.56mm. .45 has a niche and it's a good thing those 1911's were mothballed (not destroyed) but weight, recoil and capacity prevent it being as mission flexible as a 9mm.
By: supercomet32. on 26 Nov 08, 20:30:07
in iraq and afghanistan 9mm are failing to put the enemy down the 9mm doesnt get it done. i personally have shot enemies with both and the 9mm took more rounds to stop them where the .45 was atwo shot deal. as for special forces using the 9mm or .45 they use the mk23 h&k usp .45 tactical. and they dont clear rooms with it until they have exhausted their mbr
By: Treblaine. on 26 Nov 08, 14:57:26
I like his wry comment about 9mm being weaker than .45 calibre. If you are shot in the shoulder with a .45 or a 9mm then you are going down with a fight. If you are hit in the head or heart with a 9mm or .45 then you are dead before you hit the floor. Now 9mm has much less recoil and I can see why it would be more valued to make it easier to make those accurate shots. It is also half the weight per round, is easy to fit a double stack magazine into a pistol grip and easier to suppress.
By: Treblaine. on 26 Nov 08, 14:41:31
It used to be said "save the small calibre weapons for the new recruits" but I believe the opposite is true. My point is most soldiers cannot get enough pistol training for consistent head/heart shots considering their shorter training period. So if they can only be expected to hit centre mass then a .45 is better than a 9mm. But for Special Forces who go through thousands of hours of training and need 100% certain target kill then a lower recoiling/fast-firing weapon is best for head-shots.
By: sexymalcom1970. on 24 Nov 08, 19:19:05
Dont listen to them , 'practise makes perfect'. Some people just need more practise than others. The best training technique that has worked for myself is enhancing my focus on the objectives I want to accomplish. I usually fail when my focus is not spot on
By: lobelia2. on 24 Nov 08, 19:11:42
people say "nobody is perfect". so i stopped practicing.
By: lobelia2. on 24 Nov 08, 19:03:54
i thought they would move and shoot much faster than hte guy at 1:02
By: eepz24. on 23 Nov 08, 20:38:33
i know it was so funny
By: BHT195. on 23 Nov 08, 19:09:46
I couldn't help but laugh when he said "but when I put two rounds through your heart, and one through your head you won't tell the difference... and neither will the enemy". Classic.
By: Belva1. on 23 Nov 08, 16:30:34
muzzle velocity increases on longer barrels. as soon as there is still powder to burn. see the difference in muzzle velocity between the m4 and the m16a2.
By: supercomet32. on 23 Nov 08, 14:54:01
the 9mm round isnt getting the job done in iraq or afghanistand and soldiers are carrying 45's in greater numbers. the 9mm is designed as an in door round use due to its lack of penetrating power thus eliminating accident shootings to people in the other room. the trade of is when you shoot a guy halfway doped up strong or wearing even flak vests they tend to take more rounds to put down with a 9mm. you have to aim for hip joints or head shots in order to stop a guy. this leads to more getaways
By: supercomet32. on 23 Nov 08, 14:50:33
the muzzle velocity doesnt increase with longer barrels th epressure is the same what changes is the amount of influence over the twist of the round which stabilizes the flight of the round over a greater distance. and when the seals use an m4 its and 11 inch or nine inch version. not the 16 inch version.
By: beretta001. on 22 Nov 08, 02:29:05
They use whatever their mission dictates, they've used knives and .22's in the past. A longer barrel increases muzzle velocity and accuracy. See the difference between a 20 inch barrel M16 and a 16 inch barrel M4, using the SAME ROUND. Lot of factors go into impact energy, including muzzle velocity. A longer barrel gives the bullet more time under pressure from the expanding gases, making them faster.

man how fuckin slow can ya go. Just a slow movin expensive piece of kit
By: sargon08. on 20 Nov 08, 17:54:41
pyromaster55: the sig357 and the 10mm Auto is the best penetrating pistol rounds !! the sig 357 Velocity 1,375 ft/s (419 m/s) the 10mm Auto Velocity 1,600 ft/s (490 m/s) the 9mm Velocity (1,200 ft/s) 360 m/s !!
By: ablanangela. on 20 Nov 08, 06:59:14
1:02 could that dude be going any slower? lol, my grandad moves faster than him, and most likely holding that gear too, that dude even walks like an old fogie ahah!
