Gingrich is considered to be a "genius" of sorts by many self-indentified conservatives. Unfortunately, this is only because conservativism, in general, has anti-academic tendencies. As a result you don't see too many conservative academics. Gingrich breaks this mold. He has a doctorate in history and a disdain for lawyers, many of whom become career politicians. The problem is that you can't honestly be an ethical academic & STILL cling to conservative principles.

Like most politicians, Gingrich has a fundamental misunderstanding of the motivations of the enemy. That is, they perceive American foreign policy in the Middle East as an attack on Islam. Liberals are dangerous: 1) They want to let Iran develop nukes in the name of "peace." 2) They don't want us to develop small nukes in the name of "peace." 3) They don't want us to use advanced anti-terrorist measures in the name of "freedom." A sobering video indeed. You might hate the commies but at least they think in a rational way and can be dealt with in a rational way. Putin/Bush might be ruthless/imperialist/whatever but at least their intentions are understandable.
