Definitely too fast!It should sound meditative, like a shakuhachi (not like karate!) esp. the long notes in the beginning - listen to Ryo himself playing the piece, he really PERFORMS the story behind it ("last song before suicide") with a lot of passion AND expression!

Look, I obviously don't know this composer very well. Boulez structured his pieces through serialism. I do not have this sheet music. This is my point exactly: the only way you're able to appreciate this music is through a contour analysis, not mathematical or musical. In a sense, my dog barking is "music," but it has no musical or mathematical qualities that I appreciate; it's simply loud noise, like this song. Anyone can scribble notes on a page, to do it with structure takes talent.

This doesn't even begin to reach the complexity and beauty of real expirimental music. There is no way this has true aspects and qualities of modern music. It's rather banging and screming. Anyone could do this. To write truley avant-garde music, on a level of Ligeti or Stockhausen takes real talent. This is easy and frankly boring.

*makes your day* Doesn't matter if the final chord is C4C5C6C7. This piece has no harmony, and therefore no specific note/chord can be "tonal" in correlation to the piece. A chord can be dissonant or consonant. The final chord is consonant, but because the is: chromatic, atonal, aharmonic and angular, thus no single note can be "tonal" by definition.
