Am I the only one who thinks the melody sounds like the song Toxic from Britney Spears? And yes I know this came out before that song I just cant get out of me head how similar they sound. That aside though I love this show. Though I wish it would have been a bit faster paced.

It's not really Yuri so much as having undertones. The whole 'Soldats' thing is very feminine, which I think a lot of wishers would want to equate with lesbianism. /shrugs/ More than anything it's just undertones and nothing more. Hope that clears it up for ya, though the series IS worth watching, even if it's not the kind of genre you're looking for.

I could really see the Sin City influence here, more than genuine Humphrey Bogart-starring type from the 40s and 50s. But I still enjoyed it. Good work! The filming was very impressive for film students. :)

Good filming, atmosphere, choice of music. But...the script could be a little better cause the monolauguing which should be a film noir film's high point was lame, along with the story. Oh well, better luck next time, you can do it.

Very good film. I have to agree with the other comments though, the narration was a bit different from the visual atmosphere and could have been different, if it was a little slower deeper then it would have been perfect. Very good effort though, loved the credits :) was it influenced by sin city by any chance?

Because to me, "true noir" breaks the rules. I've been working on some noir films and I always try to keep that in mind. To not just mimic, but to create or innovate or deviate from the "standard noir." Before anyone thinks I'm bashing this short, I'm not... I've already given my pros and cons of it in earlier comments; it just got me thinking about noir again. Great stuff, that's what noir is. Great stuff. Anyway, I best shut up. :)--Nathan

I just watched this... again. And it got me thinking about noir... again. I personally love noir. And having studied it fairly extensively, I've come to (my own) conclusion that since the filmmakers of the classic noir period didn't realize they were creating a new style, therefore noir cannot just be mimicked to become noir. At the time they were creating noir, they were breaking the rules and I think you have to think outside the box for it to become "true noir."
