According to legend, son of makeda and king solomon started the ethiopian solomonic dynasty which just ended a few decades ago with Haile Selassie I aka Ras Tafari of the Rastafarians....

I also love how les nubians taped their video showing the real mardi gras celebration (under the bridge, family, etc), and not the commercialized version, the way many ppl show it. when you are a resident of new orleans, mardi gras time is so much more than tourist showing their boobs. thanks so much for posting this!

Hello Rollituphomie and thank you for the part translation of the song. My brother-in-law wasn't talking about this particular song by them - I should have been clearer in my post; also he likes very different genres and styles of music to me, so wouldn't and doesn't really appreciate Les Nubians anyway. But I can tell you for sure that he's not racist, as he's also mixed race.

Après avoir donné 2concerts en france elles sont actuellement en tournée aux US puis après elles enchainent avec l'Afrique... Ce sont des artistes exceptionnels et engagés et comme elles le disent "on ne sort pas d'albums à la chaine, on est comme sade, on prend notre temps!! If some of you are looking for beautiful french music, listen to Kayna Samet's. I thought there was no hope for French music since Les Nubians and then her album came out in 2005... And what can I say? her music is superb, with meaningful lyrics and real depth, just like The Nubians' it really moves me (thought the musical style's different). Sorry for sounding like a commercial but it's just so hard to find real music these days...

I really like this song, and the first time i saw this video, i was so happy to see that it was filmed near by my place. It's a very nice park in Paris, France, called "Parc des Buttes Chaumont", not so famous but one of the most romantic place in Paris.
