The Zr1 is a truly important car, one of the first American supercars that can apparently really handle. When it comes with choosing a car I could live with everyday I'd have to go with the GTR tbh. Times around the 'ring mean little in this respect. Major props to the pilot in this one though, he slaps that bitch into the corners.

gt-r is also a V6 engine with varied hp, and the vette is a V8 with over 600 hp. therefore, GT-R is much better in the respect taht its got 2 less cylinders, 200 less horse power, and only a little bit slower than the vette.

the GT-R is an amazing car not that far from the ZR1's performance, but it is also a lot harder to drive a rwd car that fast on the ring. But it's not that hard to get the gt-r up to par, a simple ecu flash and upgraded exhaust paired with a good set of coil-overs and it'll prob be neck and neck with the ZR1 but then again the ZR1 costs more over 100k and the GT-R around 80k. They're both great cars

Check out the size and curb weight of a GT-R before you go calling anything big and fat. Don't start criticizing a car just because it has a bigger engine that the GT-R. 6.2 litres doesn't help you go 60-0 in 100 feet, or pull 1.06g on the skidpad. And while you are talking about manufacturers cheating, how do you think a GT-R would do without a computer controlling it? Like it or not, the ZR1 is one awesome car. And the ZR1 has ALREADY pulverized the GT-R, Nissan has a lot to do to come close.

After seeing this can you imagine what would've Stefan Bellof's time of 6:11.13 in the Porsche 956 around the even longer (2 corners + 2 straights more) and more elevated/bumpier track look like if there was ever an on-board footage. :| Insane! That guy in the Radical seemed very relaxed though, he sure knows his way around and has great confidence in the car which seems to be setup perfectly for this track.

No, one v8 engine with 2, 4 cylinder Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle cylinders, one crank. The motor was built by Radical a British specialist car maker. They have a 4 cylinder version powered by a 250 hp modded Hayabusa motor and a turbo version that produces over 400 hp. It lacks low speed torque and is more difficult to drive. This V8 version gives better low down power and very quick top end. Not really a proper road car but gets through British registration for the road. Other countries won't.

You can't really call british cars british anymore cuz nearly all are owned by german car brands or use german engines or as you can see japanese motorcycle engines. There are a few left like TVR and some others. Hell i did a 24 hour race! but i know a game is nothing like real life, that is 1 of the main reason's to go out there is too see some fast car's. That will be the greatest day of my life.

Check out the AM Tiergarten (hostel in Sabine Schmitz house), and have dinner & drinks at the pistenklause just down the street, all the racers go there to hang out for dinner! If you're concerned about the rental car, rent from a further city, and drive in lol. We beat the flying F**K out of ours, be careful though, it explicity states in the contracts 'insurance void if taken to the nurburgring'. Try and memorize the track, and be careful, there are some mental fast cars on there. Have fun!!!!

ha! apparently all the rental car companies are sick of people bring back their cars with bald tyres and burned brakes so they have spies and stuff at the track to monitor the cars that go out. I have read of several people getting a lifetime ban from Hertz, Avis etc. Still think its worth it though but if you dont want to risk a ban, there are a few companies that offer race prepared cars at the ring itself. enjoy!

you need to take the rubber into consideration too. and the gt-r had 550 bhp, thats why it can go from 0-60 in 3.2 in april and 4.1 now for some reason, lower boost. also, it was pretty much ONLY built to beat a 911 turbo (the least track oriented car porsche has ever built) around the most demanding track in the world. buy a porsche, you get wins on the highway, where people tend to drive, luxury, and more quality throughout.

(handling is obviously amazing too) I just hope the clients will have the same spec as these on the net, otherwise there are going to be a few oopses coming. Can i point out that this video clearly shows Nissan DID cheat in the lap time. At the start, you notice they start timing immediatly before the left turn. Yet they stop the timing immediately after the final right turn where there is still a good 300 yards straight! Still... even at probably 7.35, that still would have been f**king fast and still have beaten the 911.

News from Japan. "Porsche is claiming the GT-R that did 7:29 was not stock. They bought GT-R in US for benchmark and ran on the ring. The best run was 7:54 while 911 Turbo did 7:38 and GT2 was 7:34. They suspect Nissan put semi-slick tires for the time. Nissan is denying the claim and insisting the GT-R was stock and a Japanese publisher's video as evidence. actually, the first roundabout was in paris, at the arc de triomphe. and about the little horsepower dispute, there is a difference between horesepower and brake horsepower. Brake horsepower is measured at the crank, whereas horsepower is measured at the wheels, so it is usually a bit lower, due to inefficiency of the drivetrain and things like air conditioning.

No you stupid americans the GTR has 480HP max at the wheel. It can have 5000000000HP at the crank it won't make a diffrence because power at the wheel is still 480HP. The power of all cars is measured at the wheel (except in america). The GTR accelerates slower than the 505BHP corvette Z06. But, on anything that has "turns" (a concept the americans can't understand) the GTR will leave the Z06 and 911 behind. By the way your GT 500 Mustang only has 424HP at the wheel.

More time is possible to get out of a car. The reason why the driver has a weird driving style is because this is only his third lap ever in a Viper. He has never driven one before, so he's not really used to the lower revs or torque at lower RPM. He is a good racecar driver, though.

He definately knows "tha Ring" and his Lotus like the back of his hand. I believe had it not been for the bikes, slower traffic and the workers he could have tagged a run just under 8 minutes. I drove there in 1986 in a VW Golf GTI it was an awesome experience, I have quite a few miles on that piece road. It is not near as easy as it looks on these videos, you have to drive it a while before you can run hard on it, It takes a while to learn the track where to break and gas it for each corner etc. But it is definintly the ultimate driving experience.

Magnificent driving by a legend in one of the greatest race machines in history. Smooth as a babies bum without pushing too hard. Would have been nice if they kept more engine note for the vid but one of the greatest in car vids i've seen. Lot of practice laps to get the balls up to hold pace for those blind ones. Phenomenal driving...6-1/2 min lap with weight onboard and not pushing.

I'm not sure about the cage being FIA-approved, but either way it doesn't matter. You don't need to pass tech inspection to drive on the Nurburgring. It's open to the public most days of the year for a fee of around $30 US per lap. Anybody can bring whatever they want to the track and drive. Hell, they even have tour buses that go out on the track.

The lap record for an f1 car is 6:58 min - set 1975 by Niki Lauda. The fastest lap ever was driven in 1983 by Stefan Bellof with a Porsche 956 C (6:11 min). Well, if you would drive a f1 car without any technical restrictions (engine, aerodynamics, tires, fuel, suspension, electronics) it would surely be possible to get close to the 5min mark or break it.

brakes are key to that corner to slow your car down enough. aparently this person doesn't play racing games enough to learn the track. fortunately for me i've raced this track over 250 times on pgr, forza, and grand turismo (GT5 is a piece of crap of a game). the track has the same corners and dips and dives but it's not bumpy enough i don't think. oh well, it's close enough. (and yes i know a video game is nothing like real life driving) although the physics are almost there, it's not the same.

This Porsche lost grip on the front wheels over the big dip there and over reacted on the brakes. Thats why his rear end unloaded when his front wheels finally got grip and the rest is history. Plus the guy was probable a newbie to the track and drove beyond his abilities. I had 3 or 4 minor off on the ring this corner is one of the harder corners in damp conditions adenauer forst is another one that catches new drivers off guard at about 7km in.
