Synthesizers in this case. Natural reverb sounds somewhat more... natural. Try playing your ocarina in a large empty room. I had to move all furniture out of my living room a while ago. That resulted in the room giving great natural reverb.

Check out the You Tube video where the group of people are playing Stairway to Heaven on their iPhone's. The guy in white is using an external mic which doesn't make sense since the iPhone has a built-in mic so I'm wondering if he was using a 2nd Gen iPod Touch. But like I said before, I haven't read anything stating the Touch can be used for Ocarina.

You can get Headset/Mic Combo which work with the 2nd Gen iPod Touch's headset input. iTunes App Store lists 7 iPhone voice-memo apps which are compatible with the 2nd Gen iPod Touch. If the 2nd Gen iPod Touch can use an external mic for those apps, i don't see why it couldn't be used for the Ocarina. I haven't seen anything stating this, though. My bet is if it does work, the sound will only come out the ear buds on the mic.
