Maybe the average American cannot name a Supreme Court case they disagree with (which I think is sad and should not be accepted as the status quo), but then again the average American doesn't typically run for vice-president. These risky investments were initiated by government regulated companies. Private firms followed suit because to not do so would be uncompetitive. Again, it is not a free market environment. But what the U.S is facing now is a monetary crisis as a result of an oversupply of the US dollar. The dollar is now worth 4% of its value as was in the 1920's. PS is right when he says there is a false confidence in the dollar, and once countries leverage out, the dollar will collapse like stone.

His solutions are not ridiculous. Its going back to basic Economics, and the quantity theory of money. Why don't you read up on some Economics first eh? Too much government interference does not constitute a free market, so its not right to blame a free market for current troubles. All PS has said is that, the US government spends too much. Cut spending and we might just save enough to get thru the problem. I see nothing wrong with that!
