i am from ankara-turkey and i was in oman on feb 2007 for honeymoon. it has great sea and beaches on winter time too... but what makes oman special is his people of course...same as all other arabic countries...thanks for your hospitality 1000 times again.

Oman is not a bad place but there is no reason to lie about the weather. Muscat is arguably the hottest city in the world. Oman is hot. You must be talking about Salalah. I spent a month in Oman that did not drop below 50C for a high and one day it hit 55C. Oman is a great place but it is hot. Very hot. Hotter than Dubai just up the road.

Oman: Fab place.Should position them selves as the Monte Carlo of the Guld (W/O casino!). Spent alot of my youth there. Great people, beaches, food.The Sultan has been brill and kind and to his people.Love to visit/can't afford it!I used to go into the outback of Seeb on my trials bike with friends and play football with the local kids-they Loved it! It was a trully romantic place. It's as green as Ireland to the south! Good health to HM Sultan Qaboos.

1) How do you know he didn't get permission first for these pics? 2) Do you look at every photojournalist's work and, instead of being moved by the subject matter and thinking about cultural similarities and differences, fret about whether permission was asked of each and every person they snapped a picture of (many of whom are probably more pragmatic and concerned with things like feeding themselves than rather some westerners see them)? If so, you're really missing the forest for the trees.

Omani people, even the culture and music is similiar to us bandari people of southern Iran. I also heard that in Oman there lives a of minorety people who speak Komzari which is a persian dialect, excactly the same dialect we speak in Bandar Abbas(Iran) Hormuz area. thats because its been over a year since it happened, i remember the road washed away went there the next day after the hit no one had alot of time for this, i remember we had to get picked up from school early cause the cyclone was coming. apparently there was goin to be a tornado but never happend. they are still building the same road.

we cant change whats happened, but perhaps we can try to benefit, Gonu will go down in the history books as black wednesday, weve all been part of this. Ive thought of a way to raise much needed money for the victims of Gonu. With the permission of all who have shown video footage, make a disc showing the cyclone and ite effects, sell it for say RO5, and give ALL profits to help rebuild lives.Trouble is, Im crap with computors, so any volunteers ?

thats very kind of you, all help is much appreciated.Indian School Gubrah R fantastic& sending out much needed aid to all communities. Remember a lot of these people were poor before Gonu hit, now their plight is worse as they can not replace lost items. Im touched by so much help and kindness shown by so many people. A lady said to me, "god bless you" to which I replied, he already did. My family all safe and accounted for. Lets have a new motto "It aint Gonu beat us",
