I suggest you do some reading on Peak Oil, which may have already happened (a possible recession trigger in 2008). Also, the well-being of people tends to be inversely proportional to the survival of other species, but that doesn't matter to growthaholics.

The problem with this video is that the message is absolutely antiquated. We've been hearing from doomsday anti-industrialists since I was a child (and from what I hear, even longer than that), and we're all still thriving, for the most part. I agree with some of the more obvious points made in this video, but I would like to see an impartial analysis of a lot of the facts that she speeds through.

@cpobeck You missed the point completely. BFR's are supposed to prevent pillows from catching fire. Her point was that since so few people actually catch fire this way, perhaps pillow manufacturers shouldnt be dousing their fabric in BFRs. She's basically making the same point you are, but unfortunately you are programmed to think that she hates America because she criticizes it, which happens to be a right Americans have.

@rsclutch1990 You're right, people will buy it anyway because of the propeller on the front ;) BMW sales (in the US) increased the first half of 2010 and they sell more than twice (100k vs 48k) as many cars as Audi, it'll take alot to reach BMW's status, particulary if the Bavarians keep having the most satisfied (and loudmouthed) owners in the premium segment :)

Bmw's attitude is simply a reflection on their whole outlook on manufacturing "lets just do whats necessary, it's a BMW anyway, people will buy it" and is also e reason why their sales are falling and Audi is on track to being number 1 by 2013

@rsclutch1990 Engine (as everything else) always goes in after painting. Painting the interior of the spare wheel well is unnecessary, but it's given a bit of paint spray as you have to paint the boot interior (or the customer will get suspicious). Painting the firewall behind the engine is not also not necessary, and the customer will not notice anything. Remember, the entire body is given a base paint when dipped, enough for all protected and unseen surfaces.

Nice modern plant they have there. Proper moving floor, moving pallets and the seats are installed by robots! They are installed by hand on most of the competition, including most of the premium segment. I dont know why the roof-robot played a little celebration song after gluing the roof though, seems strange. And to Memphis, you cant drill in glass, all glass is glued.

3 points to remember: 1. Renault is owned by the French state. 2. French workers generally don't care about their jobs (that's why they go on strike 3 months a year for no reason). 3. Renault are overpriced plastic junk. They're technologically advanced, but the physical quality and finish is crap. Most the Laguna is plastic. BUT, it drives nice, just doesn't live long before the plastic parts start to deteriorate.

The lenses are Canon because the lens referred to in the video is 'EF 500mm F4 L IS USM' - EF being a Canon lens mount and USM being a Canon focusing system. :) L is also Canon's pro range of luxury lenses.

Yeah. I love how many little bits of rocks and crap there are in my fluorite Canon front elements. Looks just like a brick. Maybe I'll see if I can get an adapter, and just USE a brick, although I guess I'll have to use manual focus. But hey, I'll have something like $6999.50 instead of autofocus, and the same optical quality!
