Yeah... in the end, the Sioux were defeated spiritually and physically, but I wouldn't contribute it solely on war. You have to look at the fact that the US fought a dirty war. They massacred whole villages of innocent people and nearly exterminated the buffalo in the pursuit of victory.

Well... wyattwelborn, what do you mean they (the Sioux) lost war? Is there any specific battle you are refering to. Technically, the Sioux did quite well in war against the United States. The Sioux were victorious in Red Cloud's war, which is considered the first war lost by the US in history, but isn't largely acknowledged. They had a tactical victory over Gen. Crook in the battle of the Rosebud, in which both forces were evenly matched. They were victorious in the Little Bighorn.

Too many people wanted their land, so they became expendable. Buffalo Bill employed many Sioux to perform in his show, including Sitting Bull, who earned ca 50 dollars a week and became quite a celebrity in Europe as well. They also became good friends. it was a real dance and ur right about Buffalo Bill. Some natives were forced into this after being forced to surrender or they would face jail time. It is a true dance though, they still dance like that today. I've never seen it on film though, thats freakin crazy! that dance must be thousands of years old. Im amazed.

I don't think this was a true dance in the way that they are to focused on the camera and not even probably concentrating on what there really doing. You can see a Buffalo Bill tag on the film on the lower right hand corner. Its nice to see such a old film but sad at the same time

This is a very important speech. Every veteran should see this. Even if he can't achieve everything here, he's being explicit. That's great. He's saying what his principles are. Veterans are used and abused, weather the war they were in is "right" or "wrong." They are always used and spit out. In every American war since the Civil War.
