i'm embarrased to admit that, as a louisville resident, i've only recently come to realize what an amazing band mmj is. right under my nose for years, too lazy or stubborn to give them a listen. jim james is a freak of nature. this rendition actually brought tears to my eyes the first time i watched it. some people just have a gift.....i'm glad he's sharing his. august 16th......they kick off their u.s. tour here in their hometown. i'll be there.

Oh, I doubt that the GBs would agree that the Smiths are overrated. There was some cross-influence. Over the same 3 or 4 years in the 1980s, the Smiths, by my reckoning, produced 30 pop masterpieces, and the GBs produced about 20. For which I'll always be grateful. The GBs didn't get the recognition of course.

im making a tunnel for my railroad. it wont look as good as foam but it will still look good. im about half way through. first u get chicken wire and make the frame of the tunnel. then u make the first layer with PAPER MACHE. after that first layer dries u put on a second layer as reinforcement. u can put on as many layers as u want as long as u have enough stuff. when that dries u paint it then secure it down where u want. make sure u can get it back up so u can change that track if u want to.

This engine is about 20 watts with a load. To power 1 KW you would need a much larger engine, about the size of a lawn mower. Conventional steam engines lack the efficiency to work from a reasonable collector. You would need 7 Fresnel lenses and a very good engine to get 1 KW. That is about 15% efficient with the engine and the generator. I would suggest DC as AC with a load or cloud cover will cause low voltage. It can be done:-)

No, with a steam engine, you want to retain AS MUCH Heat AS POSSIBLE to increase the efficiency. This is why steam engines beat internal combuation engines...heat is retained, not discarded. Hi LOS,Sorry, the catalog is not a current issue, its from an old one, maybe the 1902 book. The engine was for agricultural use, for operating pumps, and small machinery. It featured a large polishes cast iron parabolic collector at the top to provide energy for the heat tube. If you do some checking of the old catalogs, you will find it. Amazing that in those early days they already had a good idea.

Yeah, now this is one really good concept! Just make a used vegetable oil burner for night time power, reduce the size of the boiler tank, build in a water level indicator, attach a pressure gauge and automatic safety valve to the tank, volume valve to the engine, gear or belt a small motor onto the wheel, attach a voltage stabilizer to the motor, a charge controller to the stabilizer, and a 12v battery to the controller, and secure all devices together into a compact unit...

Put a pressure gage and a relief valve on that rig before you kill yourself. Also, that plastic tubing is not going to hold up to steam very well. Iron pipe is a lot safer than the beer bottle, but if you do manage to build enough pressure to blow it, it's going to make lots of high velocity shrapnel.

He plays 4 songs and talks about John Fahey, Dick Rosmini, Spider John Kerner, Steve Tibbets and others. He also talks about his dad being a golf pro - then working for the VA and how they moved around a lot.
