they went on hiatus in the early 2000's. strapping has been put on indefinite hiatus now though. Devin was tired of touring and the whole metal shtick and dissolved both his bands to work on some solo stuff and spend time with his family.

This song is fantastic for its rhythm section. Some of SYL's music is a bit extreme for me, reminds me of the album Devin did called Physicist but i think Devin Townsend is an absolute genius and Gene Hoglan is amazing especially his double bass work.

I doubt the guitarist of AILD could even play this song, and there's absolutely no way the singer could successfully match Devin's vocal range. You may like AILD, many people do, including me. I own that guitar in black and no there EMG 808TW's. That means its basically 2 85's but in a bass pickup housing made for a 7 string and that they have coil tapping capability and the C7 already has the coil taps installed to which is pretty cool

MANNNNNNN...their sound quality is so amazing live...something that really lacks in metal. So many bands sound like cr@p live. Either the vocals are not good..or the distortion is so intense that you cant even hear anything..SYL is just perfect. The only other band that sounds this clear and precise and on point live imo for metal is Iced Earth.

Grew up listening to strapping and still remember finding this song on no sleep till bedtime album and listening to nothing else for a week, this and Japan. Awesome song.
