Use calimine lotion (its what you use if you have poison ivy or something like that) it in a pink bottle and just rub it over the shoe not the shank and give it a couple of hours to dry. Or some of my friends use face powder

I have grishko 2007's and they work great with my feet!! I read in pointe magazine that people with grishkos usually look quite good in russian pointes you might want to try that out :)

See, our dance teacher has us simply crisscross the ribbons once in front and once in back, then tie a knot on the inside of the foot. The extra ribbon is cut off and the edges burned (which keeps it from fraying). My shoes are Capezio Glisse, and they are wonderful. The rest of my class uses Bloch (I went to a diffent retail) and their arch isn't nearly as good. I think I got lucky there. :)

I have a question about turning I have been dancing now for 13years and STILL can't get the head right my teacher uses the leave and whip way to try and teach us but it just makes my head hurt REALLY bad and I know I'm not going to get anywhere if I can't turn properly so what I was wondering is if theres a way of turning without making my head hurt!! Or making me dizzy or is it just me??

i wear them too! once i felt strong enough in extraflex, i switched to supple. now i'm back to extraflex because i broke a big toe over three months ago; that wasn't caused from dancing. i'm only doing releves so i don't reinjure it, but it feels wonderful! :D

its actually mostly dependent on your strength not how well you can dance. And a big part is your age because your foot muscle or bone stuff isn't fully developed until a certain age which is around twelve. if you start too soon before that you can easily permanently damage your feet and you wont be able to dance again or well. so obviously if you try a pair of pointe shoes on and they dont hurt when you walk around, even tho ur feet and legs are shaking, it doesnt mean your ready for pointe :)

I have a flat foot lol. But Ballet helps it a lot, actually. And if you're legs are strong, it shouldn't take too long. Just make sure you pay attention in the class because the faster you learn the sooner you'll go up en pointe.

I have Gaynor Minden pointe shoes and they really are perfect and made to fit me. They're based in America though, so you can just go on their website and send in your details on your foot and they choose the shoe to fit you, and they certainly pick well! I've worn GM pointe shoes since I was twelve and I'm now fourteen, only needed a new pair just at the beginning of this year, they certainly last well too :)xx

I will. I'm 99% sure it rides gap down already tho. I don't fish this fly very often anyway. And check this: I just took a sz 2 looped eye gammie out of the package, and put a swivel through the eye. I then hooked it up to a stout leader and stuck the hook on the door of my stove. I could not, pulling as hard as i friggin could, get that loop to even begin to straighten out. No salmonid could put that much pressure on a fly rod. You had me thinking tho! And I do appreciate your input.

Serioiusly; try tying it with the eyes tied on the underside of the hook - and move them back - at least to where the hinge ends so you can do enough proper wraps around the eye hinge! It will make the fly ride hook gap down - the way a salmon hook should! The eye will be stronger too!

Hi flyfisher2k8 Thanks for your comments. The dubbing is usually hare body fur, I also use rabbit body fur. I do various mixes with additional fluorescent fibres added in moderate quantities. I'm new at tying, and I've been using peacock herl for the thorax, and also folding back the fibers after the wingcase. Can you tell me why you use bright yellow, and why you trim off the fibers instead of folding them back over? Thanks, and keep the lessons coming!

For rubber legs, just use the small diameter rubber bands like they wrap papers in, or take a bungee cord apart and there's a bunch of rubber legs in it. If they're light colored and you want them barred, take a look at the tying tips video on making barred legs.

Although pipe cleaner could be used for this, It's not as dense a material as the chenille used in tying and for sweater making and wouldn't do quite as well. If you don't have a fly shop nearby, go to WalMart, Hobby Lobby, or another store that carries yarn and ask if they have any chenille. You need to get the smallest diameter they have to use for Wooly Buggers and other flies, but you can get a lifetime supply for $4-5 per color this way.

Sometimes I use the rotary feature, sometimes I don't. In this case, there isn't much material to wind on and it would take longer to tie off the thread and use the rotary than to just wind the material on. On other flys, I'll use the rotary feature, such as the Spooky Shad or when tying a silver tinsel body on a long hook. Tyer's preference I guess.

The things that struck me about this fly were, one, its simplicity (a big plus in my book) and two, the elegant technique used to tie in the legs. Rubber legs can be quite the hair puller if one does not pay attention.

Hi andrewgmurphy Thanks for your comments. Tying fishing flies is like riding a bike, once you get the hang of it ,it just gets easier. When you get to tie off stroke the hackle fibres back and hold them down whilst you do the double half hitch. Dont forget to varnish. Happy Fishing DaveC.and the Team

Cheers for the tying tips dave. Started tying yesterday when I got my vice and have been using a book to show me some patterns. Been watching your videos as a reference when the book fails me. Yes the early patterns had waxed primrose silk to make it olive.Wilf Proud called the spider pattern,wing or no wing, 'Greenwells glory' 60 years ago and that is how it will be with me,until they pack my vice in the casket with me ( in the next 60yrs.) Your videos are very clear and concise. But that fly is more of a Greenwell spider than the full Glory. Also i am sure you know, the original had a body of dirty, waxed yellow tying silk, plus hen blackbird as wings, (nowadays it is dyed starling substitute). This is not meant as a criticism, more as extra info. That fly would defo catch trout!
