Personally, I'd rather have McCain over Obama but this video speaks the truth. (But don't worry, I'm not voting for McCain either. Bob Barr '08!) A lot of Obama's successes in this election year, I believe, has to do with his public speaking skills. And if he becomes president than that's a good skill to have to maybe reach across the aisle or to speak with foreign leaders. But if he puts his all to giving a speech about raising taxes I still won't like that speech. Hopefully he won't.

Just one more thing i want to say; yes the gov can help people get into college, i am for taxes (in that area) being raised for that reason. But the majority of the money that goes into the gov is wasted and very few of it actually comes back to the people. I think we both can agree that we just want policies that can help others and it was nice talking to you too.

I just don't think that you have to have millions in stake in order for people to work hard, most people just want to be a little bit better of than before. you do make a good point. however, we may have to import more but we are trying to find ways not to. Drilling here is one way. Also, it has always been the American way and Dream that if you work hard enough, you can attain great heights. Many people have started at the bottom and worked their way up. Taxing higher would lower ambition and it would make it more difficult for people to be successfull.

hey we do have plenty of oil; the gulf coast alone produces over 20 percent of oil for us. i don't know about your country, (i'm sure it's nice) but the U.S. economy wouldn't be as well as china's or japan's economy under heavy taxes. Many countries who did have heavy taxes had (vietnam, china, russia for example)to switch to a more capitalist economy in order to survive. I live in a small country with the worlds 2nd largest tax pressure, still we have plenty of big global companies, according to your facts that would be impossible. I do not believe that even lower taxes will increase the business market in the US. At some point the wheel kicks back at you. Capital isn't leaving America because the taxes are too high, that might be true for some countries, investors leave because they don't want to pay the taxes, but it's definitely not true to a low tax country like the US. Offshore drilling won't do much either, there's just not enough oil.
