Voted for Bush but ironically about the only policy I've agreed with him is his war against terror. TAKE THE FIGHT TO THEM!! This war is all about national security. However I agree there was something very screwy with Vietnam. I have nothing in comman with dorks like Abbie Hoffman and their ilk, but they probably had a point concerning this war. I've always liked this song and there's some justification in its lyrics, and that's coming from a extreme righty.

sbnewman all I found was confintial when I researched it. I think the interview was with Dick Cavett in the early 80`s if that helps. Joe had just gone bankrupt and started touring again to try to dig himself out. It was the end of the line for him drug and booze wise and thats when they found the MS. It`s a rare form so the name escapes me but I will keep looking! He always had quirks but you are right the booze and drugs tooks it`s toll because he did not know he had it.

well you would think that most people have better things to do, but I'm sure we've all seen shit on here that was hard to believe. I've heard that about Cocker in several different places, but I've never been able to find any info on it or the actual interview. my dad said that back in the day he was completely normal, but his guess was that rampant drug use caused some muscle issues... which was a struggle to believe as well. either way, you're right, he rocks.

The story I heard is that other acts were late---no one knew all the roads would be jammed, helicopters had to be arranged for ASAP, etc---and the stage managers kept on telling Richie "Do some more" and he finally responded "I don't have any more." He went through virtually everything he knew. So, yes, he wrote "Freedom/Motherless Child" right there on stage. What an amazing moment in time. 40 years later, I'm still stunned when I hear it!

There have been some totaly awesome changes to Jimi's memorial in Renton, engraved pics of him, his guitar, and many of his writings are engraved also in Jimi's hand writing. I took some pics of it with my cell & sent them to friends etc. I have met people from around the world there, so this comment is for everyone A little change on the outside to!! You maybe can't compare them, but they are both probably the most influential and best musicians of all time. They were both masters and they are icons. What Mozart did for classical music and playing piano Jimi Hendrix did for electric guitar and rock and roll music. One thing is for sure, there will never be someone like them them and their music lives on and will live on forever!

Comparing Mozart with Hendrix....loooool Hendrix just set the electric guitar standards (in terms of acoustic guitar: Paco de Lucia is the master). Mozart just set the music standards and he composed his first pieces when he was 5....5 fuckin years old. Nah. Beethoven and Mozart look at Hendrix the same way we look at Hendrix. haha. Bach wasn't even close. The difference though is Hendrix is ours. Mozart was from another age, time, place, people, culture. Hendrix is today, now, American. And I don't think Beethoven or Mozart ever did with a piano what Hendrix did with this guitar, nothing even close.

I was at this concert in '69---freekin' amazing! Nothing like it has been or ever will be again! Poor Janis was miserably over looked and one of the best female blues singers ever. As far as her being high---we ALL were!! I think however, the studio version of "this" song was the better.

I read it was because of how drunk and high she was at this performance, it was called, "her worst performance ever". Personally, I think "they" were dead wrong. Her being overlooked in many arenas is a travesty. Double standard in action. No one ever called Jim Morrison a slut. No one ever criticized Jimi Hendrix for being too high for a performance. No one ever said that either of these men were "miserable" and their personal lives put on display for the world to see. She was robbed. Peace.
