Great song, even though I'm not a huge fan of Springsteen's. This brings similar feelings and has similar effects on me as Johnny Cash's cover of Hurt, goosebumps and a general feeling of sadness, emotion and regret. Amazingly moving music.

Know what you mean but for me it's the sparseness of piano and acoustic guitar with barely discernible beat which provide the perfect vehicle for Bruce to provide arguably his finest ever vocal. It's as near perfect as it gets. Even an expertly judged harmonica might detract/clutter.

I have wrestled for 8 years and you think thats a boner, but its just getting it out of the way like milford said. Try wrestling if you think it is so easy? If you get put in a tulsa ride, chicken wing, or bucher. You will cry for 10 minutes no matter how "tough" you are from playing football. Go to one wrestling practice and then see how much harder it is than all those other sports. Like jstud said.

Most people are too scared to wrestle. I've wrestled for 13 years now, and what you want to consider a "boner" is really a wrestler keep it out of the way. Keeping it to the side prevents it from getting hit. But none of you would know about that unless you wrestled. instead, you'd rather look at the MEN on that mat who are in the most brutal COLLISION sport in school. I agree with jstud40. If you don't like what we do, don't do it. Or say it to our face.

I LOVE this song. And the film. Just saw it today for the 2nd time. Mickey Rourke deserves a best actor nomination, if not a win, as well. And Bruce's song is beautiful, sparse, and haunting-yet-hopeful, much like the film. I can't wait to hear/have the final thing!

I went to Jr. High and High school with John. I he was a year younger than me. You should have seen him wrestle those average schoolboys. It was incredible. Later, he could do that low leg single on the best wrestlers in the qworld with them fully anticipating it. The locals all knew how good he was and were all still blown away by his accomplishments.

I don't understand how he does it? He is going to be way easier to lift since his lack of limbs brings his weight down, he is going to be in a weight class with smaller people because of that and they can grab onto his torso without worrying about getting a hook in under their arm. Wrestling is about control, how do you control without limbs?
