yeah amen - gfan. We fight and spend big in defense as a bailout for starving defense contractors. I have a cousin making a fortune over army simulators right now. It ain't oil, freedom spread, al queda - its a defense bailout. Premption is radical and would have been great if it worked but its a quagmire at 200million a day. The war plus tax cuts (according to Nobel Prize economist) caused the recession/depression to be. Maybe - I could be wrong.
By: gomezfan. on 04 Dec 08, 21:31:05
right on Joseph BUT my main point is we were misled as was Congress in order to start this war. And it was not misrepresentation due to ignorance or accident, it was deliberate. THAT is what the majority of the people have a problem with - and they should. Even the lines Powell gave the U.N were disputed by the inspectors and CIA.........But I hear you and understand where you're coming from. Wish I had more time to flap cause I like educated & stimulating conversation and you offer both !!!
By: josephNYY2. on 04 Dec 08, 21:21:14
So although WMD was not found and there were no "Current" evidents showing there was, we still have had many success in Iraq. We have helped Iraq in there first Civil war against terror and have established them a Democratic Government which gives the countries civilians the right of freedom. We took down Saddam Hussein and eliminated a lot of terrorists in Iraq that were harming and murdering the people of Iraq for believing a different religion and freedom. We have had major success in Iraq.
By: gomezfan. on 04 Dec 08, 21:17:43
I gotta fly funny guy - but just you wait and see. Bush WILL be tried for this. Author and lawyer Vincent Bugliosi is already talking about it as are many, many others. Soon even you wont' be able to deny that we WERE misled - and that is all that is in question. Was this " war" justified?it wasn't and the FACTS are out there you just have to be open minded enough to listen and educate yourself with UPDATED info. Not outdated propaganda. I am willing to listen and hear BOTH sides, not just one
By: josephNYY2. on 04 Dec 08, 21:15:33
wrong gomesfan, he said there were no WMD or evidence leading to WMD. Although! They also said that there were video proof that there were WMD videos from 1991,1996,and 1998. There has been tests done showing that Iraq and India both had WMD, and how there are still witnesses of the late Saddam Hussein era that told America and the United Kingdom that there are still WMD around being hidden under ground by Al Queada and the Taliban. That was what leaded America and the UK and into war in Iraq.
By: gomezfan. on 04 Dec 08, 21:09:31
lol - I am not a hypocrite funny guy lol. All I said was Clinton did not mean to lie about wmd and you distort that into YOUR narrow justification and brain washed ingorance. Have you seen the interviews by the actual inspectors? cause they're available to the public. And incase you want the truth - don't use outdated reports - read and watch the most recent ones that were actually given to the Bush admin. JUST before the " war"
By: gomezfan. on 04 Dec 08, 21:01:00
he won't get impeached - too much work when he's almost out of here but dont' be naive - there were WELL over a million signatures to get rid of him. Lol - have you seen the interviews with the weapons inspectors? they said there were no weapons of mass destruction. Please don't go back prior to the reports that were given to the Bush administration - try the ones given just months before the " war"
By: gomezfan. on 04 Dec 08, 20:57:10
I scrolled way back alfi and you are defiinately in the minority on your opinions. It's kinda sad cause we have access to so much fact, documentation....... and you either haven't updated your knowledge or you just choose to ignore it all like the media had for years. But, even they are finally coming around and researching the truth. It's jsut going to continue coming out and even you won't be able to deny for long.
By: alfimon. on 04 Dec 08, 20:55:22
Well gomes we're all waiting. Clinton was impeached for far less than you accuse Bush of. You can't prosecute someone just because you hate them. So when Clinton says Saddam had WMD's it's not a lie and when Bush says it is? What kind of a hypocrite are you?
By: alfimon. on 04 Dec 08, 20:51:23
ah enter the wolvyman! I see your argument is still 2 bit insults...
By: WolverineDeus. on 04 Dec 08, 20:50:00
alfimon, If people could be tried for ignorance, you would be facing the death penalty.
By: gomezfan. on 04 Dec 08, 20:49:56
yikes - you better go and research before you try putting Hans Blix in your corner on this one. Can't take a small quote and use it in defense cause Hans laughed about the Bush admin. stance about the weapons of mass destruction. I saw the video of him laughing sarcastically at Bush and their weapons of mass destruction as reason to go to war.
By: gomezfan. on 04 Dec 08, 20:46:00
yeah and you are in denial. There IS evidence, plenty of it. Otherwise there wouldn't be house resolution # 635 and there wouldn't be a movement to have him prosecuted. Do you know how many signed the petition to have him impeached for jsut this reason? lol I've seen what others say to you on here and they're right. You are narrow minded and if they disagree you call them names. Clinton's quote? lol - he didn't mean lie to congress about the weapons of mass destuction. lmao
By: alfimon. on 04 Dec 08, 20:41:17
You do know that we went after Al Qaeda in Afghanistan before Iraq right? You also know that a bunch of Al Qaeda fled all the way to Iraq from Afghanistan also? There are photos by Saddams intelligence service of Abu Musab al Zarqawi in Baghdad pre-invasion. He was treated at a hospital there for an injury he sustained fighting in Afghanistan.
By: alfimon. on 04 Dec 08, 20:34:19
"Saddam Hussein must not be allowed to threaten his neighbors or the world with nuclear arms, poison gas or biological weapons." Bill Clinton 1998 Another matter - and one of great significance - is that many proscribed weapons and items are not accounted for. To take an example, a document, which Iraq provided, suggested to us that some 1,000 tonnes of chemical agent were "unaccounted for". Hans Blix Feb 14, 2003 UN Security Council Briefing
By: alfimon. on 04 Dec 08, 20:32:51
gomez in order for their to be a criminal prosecution you need a crime and evidence. Fortunately for us people aren't tried of ignorance or you might be facing charges. The lies you speak of were also spoken by Clinton as late as 1998. Al Gore said Saddam was a menace in 1992. The UN was in Iraq as late as 1998 and guess what? They KNEW Saddam still hadn't fully complied or else they wouldn't have written UNSCR 1441 in 2002. You are a victim of Bush derangement syndrome.
By: gomezfan. on 04 Dec 08, 20:25:01
Every one of us should be outraged that after 9/11 the Bush administration CHOSE to attack Iraq instead of going after Al Qaeda and those responsible for ATTACKING the U.S. They used the weak media with their "war on terrorism" shit and no one blinked an eye. The real terrorists, the real threat and the ones who ATTACKED us - got away while Bush went for Sadam. He had wanted to do that since the day he took office and he played on 9/11 to get his " war." Very sick man and so is Cheney.
By: gomezfan. on 04 Dec 08, 20:10:07
Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld should ALL face criminal prosecution for their lies which led up to the conflict in Iraq. It is a federal felony to mislead and or distort information to Congress and they did that over and over and over again. had they not lied about the weapons of mass destruction we would have never went to " war." They should face a jury of their peers just like anyone else would. They lied and misled us, the U.N., the world AND congress and should face the law for that b.s.
By: gomezfan. on 04 Dec 08, 19:48:16
and I have read the security pact and am aware of all that. However, we should have been on that a LONG time ago and taking steps towards moving out. The Iraqi's have wanted us for a WHILE and it's THEIR country so it should have been THEIR decision. And I wonder why Mccain tried to make Obama look like an ass for talking about troop withdrawl just a few months ago during the debates. Hmmm... maybe Obama had something there after all !!
By: Krensharpaw. on 04 Dec 08, 19:40:33
alfimon, that is what I have been saying.
By: alfimon. on 04 Dec 08, 19:37:15
Ok krensh we finally agree on something. All parties should be held accountable.
By: gomezfan. on 04 Dec 08, 19:34:32
the u.s is not the only country " getting blamed" for it's part in supplying Iraq. But, americans are talking about the American involvement - is all. What's the big deal and why can't we admit to our part in all of this. World wide? yes the U.S. is getting the most heat because most countries did NOT support the Bush admin. reasons for going to " war" in the 1st place. We were not backed by most countries in this decision, and so of coarse the heat would be on us - it was OUR decision.
By: Krensharpaw. on 04 Dec 08, 19:34:01
Also alfimon, my last comment was to you also. But, blame shoudl go around the table to all sides that helped, not just the ones that gave the most.
By: alfimon. on 04 Dec 08, 19:33:34
gomez the paper work and diplomatic hurdles are done. Our troops will be coming home. It's not as simple as everyone packs there tent and be home for the holiday. BAGHDAD ? Iraq's presidential council on Thursday approved a security pact that sets out a three-year timeframe for U.S. troops to leave, a spokesman said, the final step for the agreement to replace a U.N. mandate that expires Dec. 31.
By: Krensharpaw. on 04 Dec 08, 19:32:05
Shadoweye12, umm I am not. As said before, those other's are to blame also. The fact that we attacked them because he became a threat, and we helped make him a threat, just looks very dumb. Why did we not stop him when we had the chance? Why did we help him in even a miner fact when he might become a threat in the future?
