sigur ros is one of the best around along with the band Annasay. I just discovered Annasay on itunes recently though, but they have quickly become a favorite too

My tip for you: Download their albums, then buy them when you love them ;) You can't have a solid opinion about a band after hearing only 3 tracks.

Yeah I've heard that before, all I can say to it is "hopelandic (vonlenska in icelandic) is the 'invented language' in which jónsi sings before lyrics are written to the vocals. it's of course not an actual language by definition (no vocabulary, grammar, etc.), it's rather a form of gibberish vocals that fits to the music and acts as another instrument. jónsi likens it with what singers sometimes do when they've decided on the melody but haven't written the lyrics yet." from the SR website

If I'm ever having a bad day, I'll listen to Hoppipola and it reminds me that even though my day was bad there is always hope that tomorow will be better. It's such an uplifting peice.

I've been trying and trying to get into these fellows. Eye-eef-blendl-ee-sigh-see-lund-eye-blee-foh . . . and so on. I have three of their tunes on my iPod. But I fear I'm getting tired of the "sound". No disrespect. Just me. I wonder if others are as well.

Hopelandic is gibberish. The band sings in hopelandic and leaves it to the person listening to interpret what the song represents or what it means to them.
