i get bored to death of the generic blues i hear all the damn time. i can hear middle aged men playing blues guitar with mediocre bands all day long without trying. hell, i can go to a blues festival and do that for three days and get some barbecue while im at it. It just doesn't really appeal to me. THIS, however, is great. so much fresher. BB, you are the King.

I feel BB excelled in the 60's personally, and he has certainly lasted the course. Why get technie anyway, if his music does it for you that's all that matters. honestly i have to agree with you he was VERY simplistic in his playing, if you compare it to jazz guitarists they'll blow him out if the water but hes still good at what he does though, and its almost like he doesnt need to play to many notes

Mmmm. Yer welcome Mac! I can imagine Greenie in the 60s listening to this. I first saw BB live in '68 at his first Bill Graham Fillmore gig. This Gleason thing was filmed in SF during that weekend! This is how he sounded and looked that night in '68 that I saw him!

B.B.'s vibrato is unique, i've never heard anyone get close to it. When i first started learning guitar i immediately took to blues because of the simpleness to create licks. I then discovered B.B. and instantly realised how wrong i had been playing. Blues cannot be learnt from a book or from a teacher, it just comes out. If your in a good mood your guitar sings, in a bad mood and it cries. Blues is the nearest you will get to seeing someones soul. Long live the king, B.B. King.

Great halloween music. Not many know that Monk was inspired to do this one halloween many years ago when his friend was coming over, but refused to be precise about when he would come. All monk knew, was 'round midnight'. He wrote this while he was waiting.

I had the same experience as Maxven over 20 years-ago and became totally addicted after, at first, thinking his playing was simplistic. Sheer genius and only Garner can equal him on piano for feel in a ballad. I was also deeply impressed by Charlie Rouse who was badly under-rated generally whereas others like Coltrane were actually discarded by Monk in his favour. A great team. Lost my C.D. with "Pannonica". Can anyone post the recording with Rouse and Monk???
