I have a 17" mac book pro 2.5ghz witha 23" apple screen and was not good enough for photographic work, I went to a 20" screen which is the exact spec as the 17" and is a whole lot better. I think it is important to see what your Mac pushed out screen size wise before you get an apple screen, bit is not always best "Speaking about add on screens" the iMac 24" is obviously built with it's own screen taken into account and gives a fantastic clarity but bad for Pro printing as it's glossy!

I was planning on waiting till the update and have been doing so for some time but it has just been taking too long and my classes start september 3. 8gb is well enough, 16 is well enough, depends how much you want on it, you can always delete things you don't want anymore, and remember you can watch alot of vids on youtube app, but movie wise, you don't wanna put alot, and there is also upgrades as he said, which is good, so8gb can just upgrade simply to 16gb..

But the Intel-S5000XVN-Motherboard can only handle 32GB. Up to now, there is still no Intel workstationboard which can handel 64Gb Ram. Where are you from? MacOSX can easily support up to 32gb of ram. Each core runs 4gb. 8 by 4 is 32. It works. I have 1GB of 9800ultra and 16gb of ram. it doesn't blow up at all. If you buy the video cards that Apple gives. I bought the cheapest video card and the least amount of Ram. Then I went to a computer ware house and bout 16gb worth of ram for like 1000 dollars (used of coarse) and I bought 9800Ultra (used) with 1GB of vram. It totaled to about 2000 unlike from apple it would be 5000 dollars. I play Crysis at like 50FPS on high. The only thing I really maxxed from apple was the processor chip.

Yes but it is common sense. Each core in any computer by default supports 4GB of ram. If there is 8 core in a computer, multiply 8 by 4 and you get 32. So even if it didn't say the back in the day it is common sense that it would work.

Hi. I have a mac pro 2.88 mhz 8 core. Is the hardware of the 3.2 the same exact thing as the 2.88 with a limiter of the mhz in software or do they limit the mhz with hardware on the motherboard or processor? osx leopard can utilize 8 gigs and way more. And as for usefulness, probably not if you're doing photoshop work or whatever. But for video editing it's nice. And also for music production. If you are using some of those HUGE sample libraries, like pianos with 8 velocity layers and so forth, they take a lot of ram, and if you want to run multiple instances of them, tons of ram will come in handy. Also, down the line, 8 gigs of ram isn't going to be much.. So the upgradability is nice.

Nice work Glen, The only thing I'm going to say is that you need to put dates into your info. I'm guessing you are talking about what you think will happen in October 2007 and you should make that explicit within your video itself. If someone doesn't check the posted date and thinks you are talking about Oct 2008 you sound like you are badly out of touch. Forgetting how long these things (and web pages) hang around is a trap new players often fall into and you seem better than that.

He didnt talk about any other third party lens makers that do an f/1.8 stop. Haha Because they really look great for portrait :P There are so many tool kids on youtube thinking they know what their talking about. Especially about this lens, since its so cheap they can afford to talk about it because they have it. Get a 70-200 L glass f/2.8 and then do your research before mumbling on about something. And convince me you know what your saying :P

i bought the 1.4 for a little under $300 on ebay. It really is as amazing as everyone says it is. build quality is nice and sturdy. I don't see musch sense in paying the $1200+ for the 1.2 unless your pro and getting paid for your pics.

its by far the best price for what you get out there but id get the 50mm 1.4 any day instead of the 1.8 even its 5 times more. the 50mm 1.8 build is by far the worst ive seen, its assembled by plastic and the AF is very slow. by far out of all the prime lenses out there the 85mm prime is my favorite, it is the most amazing lens ive ever owned

Prime lenses are not capable of zooming. Prime lenses has only one focal length. (ie: 50mm) On the other hand, zoom lenses are capable of "zooming" and an example of a zoom lens is the Canon ef 18-135mm f3.5/5.6

Your confusing thw word quality. It does have GREAT depth of field for 1/5 the price of the 50mm 1.4. It has bad chromatic abberation, a STUPID 5 blade aperture that makes highlights look stupid at anything but wide open, horrible build quality, and at least compared to my other lenses a pretty slow AF time. That being said I DO have one. Its so worth the 80-90 bucks.

Pretty awful review.. might want to mention the awful (near disposable) build quality, plastic mount, and nearly unuseable focus ring. Then again, it's light, compact and incredibly versitile for $80. I have one and love it.

Two steps Glenn didn't take which he should have. Installing the RAM on a proper surface, such as a desk. And the 2nd, not using an anti-static wristband. Don't get caught out, use them!

Nice video however I'd recommend useing a static strap next time to reduce the risk of static discharge there only like 10 or 15 bucks. And place the riser cards on a static free surface such as a ontop of the static free bags that circuitry ships in as appose to carpet. Currently I'm doing 3d rendering under Linux but I'm eventually going to get a Mac PRO epically with it's max ram configuration :P.
