No wonder why Clapton always wanted to be in the band and why the band played about 5-7 years with Bob dylan. But probably I´m not much experienced with Rock music and it`s just stupid what i write. Maybe groups like Green Day are way more better...;) Sry for my english.

The best band. and this has nothing to do with a senetence or phrase like that: ouu wow i love them ,the best band ever, NOOOOO.Truly Musicians with Harmonies you can`t find in deep purple, pink floyed or rolling stones songs. By the way other Rockbands play only Rock....and not so good how the band does....But don`t forget the band plays ballads, country, soul songs too...don`t know any other band who has such talent to plays that much musical directions :)

Its wonderful to read all the great comments about Richard.Every member of the Band had an equal part to play in what I regard as the best group ever, but if I had to chose, it would be RM's vocals that hit the emotion spot for me. Always remembered, he walks in the sunlight still.

Just goes to prove that good music transcends time and mortality. Loved it when I bought the LP, love it now. I'm pleased that there are still so many Band fans around.

Thank you so much. This, along with, "She Knows" off the High on the Hog album encapsulate his genuis in my opinion. Haunting, eerie, poignant, other worldly, devoid of all pretense, raw and totally beautiful in its' sparseness. That's what he brought to The Band's music.

A stunningly beautiful song by one of the greatest groups ever. Along with the Beatles, the Band is unsurpassed-- an almost impossible synergy of songwriting and musicality. Sonic snapshots from a far more tender and truthful time. Thanks for posting and R.I.P. Richard...

Great video- thanks for posting. Manuel certainly had a voice for the ages. An incredible talent. Maybe the Good Lord has to take something away when he gives you so much. EIther way, we were all blessed that we had him (and Danko, and The Band for that matter) as long as we did.

This song takes me to a place where there are no words...the saddest song ever written and with such poignant beauty. When Levon Helm comes in mid way through, I am speechless.

It really is a shame that Richard Manuel was a drug addict and alcoholic.
By: molloyx. on 19 Sep 08, 23:56:10
ad I love Levon Helm. Period. And in the future I will not refer to him as a thug [ I meant the term afectionately and now see this as pretty stupid].

I love this video! The Band played such a significant part in my early life, and they still do. Beautiful music is forever.
By: adgoodman. on 19 Sep 08, 19:51:33
Surely you're not saying Levon was a lesser member of the group. Surely not. Truth be known, Ronnie Hawkins is another 'Arkansas Thug' that helped form The Band into the best rock group to ever perform. Where do you think Robbie Roberston recieved the so much of his inspiration to write classics such as 'The Night They Drove Ole Dixie Down'? Face it, a southern rock influence shaped these guys. And Levon is no thug or hooligan.
