Saw this a year ago--was skeptical at first as so many older westerns are real duds. But this movie was excellent. I particularly liked the scene in the end where Brando bluffs Slim Pickins? in his jaikbreak. Highly recommended.

One-eyed Jacks was an adaptation by Rod Serling loosely based on Billy the Kid, (thus the name "Kid" called by Malden) and relocated in Monterey, CA. Peckinpah and Kubrick(director)both fired. Brando rewrote(according to Malden) and directed. "Dad was synonymously used as a metaphor as to his own relationship with his own father. By end of filming there was so much film and editing to be done, Brando just gave up and the movie was not edited Brando had wanted. A classic none the less.

Suggest you read it correctly I said the BEST ENDING thats a loose term for a very good ending don't take things too literally. Ben Hur was a very good film I think it won seven oscars at the time, I presume you mean the re make with Charlton Heston? although as much as I like it some of it looks a bit cheesy today but thats what Cecil B De mille was good at. I personally don't care too much for religious films and I Wwouldn't pay to see one especially one made by Mel Gibson.

Shane was a great movie and great western, but the greatest of all time? Please. Ben Hur was the greatest of all time. Have you ever noticed how every year that goes by, Ben Hur goes further down on Hollywood's greatest movie list? The powers that be have said to the American public, never again will we have movies about Christ impact us. Mel had to use his own money to make "The Passion" so Hollywood had no say. Watch Ben Hur and see the spiritual realities jump off the screen.

This fight really remind me of the fight between Anakin and Obi - Wan in Star Wars episode III because both of set of men had to fight to get their point across in a dirty and bloody fashion and it surprise me the first time I watch this part because they were so chummy and now they have to fight each other to see which one stays alive from the inevitable.

Yes he has got that sad quality about him I did comment on that on another clip I uploaded, but I think that it makes his performance in this film simply superb some criticscalled him a lump of wood but in the right role he was great. He took a lot of stick because he was short but today it wouldn't matter there all short arses. I thought he was GREAT!

the great Van Heflin-the kid is Brandon DeWilde, a competant actor in his own right-he was outstanding in "Hud" with Paul Newman and Melvyn Douglas, he was killed in a car accident in the early 70's if i remember correctly-good actor

He went back to the US and did a pilot for a hospital drama then promptly pulled out of the lead role leaving another actor to fill it. He did all but vanish after that except for some very small cameo roles on US tv he emerged in films in 1975/76 in 'Going South' another very small role. If you read the foward on the man in a suitcase dvd box set one of the directors gives you a big clue as to what may have happend, but its not for airing on here. Catfish.

Steve Ihnat is the thug who guards the door. One of the great character actors of 60s tv, Ihnat died tragically young in 1972 of a heart attack. Knowing Bradford as the hero of "Man in a Suitcase" (he looks just the same here)it's a shock to see "McGill" as a vicious villain. Even back in the 60s I wondered how this tremendous actor just seemed to vanish after his UK TV show.

Come on lighten up! the scene I posted up is about Richard Bradford and Marlon Brando a lot of other people don't get mentioned. The black guy is Joel Fluellen a fine character actor had small parts in loads of films sadly commited sucide in 1990, I'm sure he got paid and had more money and a bigger house than I have...I'm not complaining.

From mias onwards he appeared in very little on the Tv and almost not at all on film until The Missouri breaks and that was a pathetically small part Going south equally so. He's had small cameos in tv and film ever since. Like I've said before I was raving and telling people about RB almost forty years ago I don't have to check his credits I know everthing he's ever done what I am saying is he deserved better.

No I don't agree with you nobody knows why he disapeared for years except Richard Bradford. I would imagine he would have rather been working than sat on his backside if he would have been offered the work. Also MIAS was considered a turkey in the States and they only aired half the series, so that didn't do him much good.

It was Richard's choice to take a break from the business after he returned home to the States. Man in a Suitcase played in the US too, so he was still getting attention through this media which at that time had over taken the movie industry in terms of exposure and popularity.

I love mias more than anything right from the first episode in 67/68 but Bradford deserved to be a massive star doing TV at that point in his career I think was a mistake for HIM. After the Chase he should have been offered bigger roles in films...but he was unavailable and 12 months away is a long time in the film industry.

I disagree that coming over to England to make MIAS was a wrong move. The vast majority of his fan base is still over here and the rest of Europe, Germany especially adored the series! When he returned to the States he starred in a feature film entitled 'Operation Heartbeat'. After a break from the business, Arthur Penn (The Chase) gave him a minor role in 'The Missouri Breaks' Check out my Richard Bradford website for some of his 'after' McGill credits!

Have you watched the interview? there's are alot of clues he had a reputation for being a ' awkward method actor' who wanted realism even if it meant someone may get hurt ( whats wrong with that ) also I don't think he did himself any favour comong over to England for a year to do MIASC and I think he had a few personal problems as well. Looks like he paid the price for not kissing anyones arse.

I wonder what Richard Bradford do to nose dive his career. One of the greatest actors ever to grace both tv and film screens. Perhaps he pissed some studio execs off? Who knows! But a tragic loss, nevertheless. RB was a master craftsmen at his professon. Period!

I've been a long time fan of Bradford's from the very beginning 'Man in a suitcase' is what he's really famous for in the UK, he'd only been in one small role before this Film 'Gunsmoke' and some theatre work. He's fantastic and I've always raved about him he's getting old now and so am I. I think we've both had our time !
