Trust ol'Deano to pull a top fitty air hostess!! lol Good lad! This is a classic film, great actors, Lancaster, Van Hefflan, Kennedy, Bisset at al. Brilliant stuff! Having said that, where have the blow up co-pilot, the nuns with guitars & the dudes talkin Jive disappeared too?! lol

Always thought it was a shame the movie didn't make use of the novel's subplot involving the airport manager's brother, a guilt-ridden and suicidal air traffic controller. For some reason, I picture David Janssen in that role.

Probably. Some actors sign on and then always think twice about films they've done. Richard Dreyfuss thought "Jaws" was going to be "the turkey of the year" while filming, Val Kilmer only did "Top Gun" because it was a contractual obligation, etc.

Curtis O'Keefe was played by Kevin McCarthy. O'keefe wanted to buy the hotel. Warren Trent was played by Melvyn Douglas and played the owner of the St. Gregory Hotel who was in trouble financially and was desperate to sell. Karl Malden was great as the key thief.

Did Curtis O'Keefe play the hotel owner? I only got to watch Hotel on broadcast tv during the 70's and the only actor I remember is Karl Malden who played the thief. By the way the last novel of Arthur Hailey, "Detective" has also been translated to film.

You are right on! Hotel was a terrific movie. I loved it. It doesn't compare to Airport since Airport was a nail-biter suspense disaster movie that had you on the edge of your seat all the way through. Airport was made in 1970. Hotel was 1967. Hotel was more of a soap opera. I loved to hate the smarmy Curtis O'Keefe character in Hotel. Here in Texas, Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is a real life version of O'Keefe. He turned a great football tradition on its ear after he bought the team.

I love this movie..it's great to cry, laugh, and make fun of. The ending is where I outright lose it whether if I cry earlier on or not. I laugh with so much of Whoopi's lines and love to make fun of the garbled noises of the demons coming to get evil people, or gosh .. Demi's straight leg when Carl scoops her up, lol. It's like a perfect kick there, like a ballet number. But seriously, it's a great classic.
