i have something close to it but anyways i have 6 motherboards with 4 cpu's on each connected together working as one whole pc had lots of bugs but once you take care of it oh my god you feel like you are on top of the world. i ran 80 games on it and it only used 2percent of cpu resources.

A lot of companies use Lotus Notes exclusively. Outlook is in use by probably more, but in a corporation setting and not on a personal use level, lotus notes is very popular. When I worked at 3M for example, that was their e-mail client of choice.

You may use terms like "user interfaces" and "plug ins" and "end users" in your business speak, but if you could tone down the techie speak just a tad, your message might reach a greater audience. I found myself trying to move from my everyday speak to your tech jargon and missing the actual function. Try simple English. It works well with a larger audience.

Lotus Notes is nothing for your average home user, its for businesses concerned about security and the database features are not bad, either. I work at a Computer store, we help customers set up mail programs, we STRONGLY suggest that they delete outlook, because it is clunky, unorganized and doesn't work. we either let them use outlook express, Thunderbird, or lotus.

Congrats IBM! You have finally caught up to Microsoft Outlook 2003. Keep going. Perhaps by 2010 you can catch up the Outlook 2007? Perhaps IBM should take the advice they provide in their "innovation" and "execution" advertisements and have their consulting force work with their own company on actually delivering new features that their competitors have not had forever.

Nice video, but... in the imitable words of Beavis "You can't polish a turd dude!" The interface is still a nightmare, font adjustment needs to be done via the notes.ini file (what user wants to mess with this?!?), contact management is still archaic and unusable (where are the vCards folks?), why does it take so many clicks to make basic changes to the user environment? And on and on...

too bad its not bill. I have been a Lotus Fan for 12 years. This is a sad, sad build. Don't get me wrong, it's pretty and has cool functionality, but if you don't have a really up to date computer... You will not be happy with how this perfoms. I'm running a 1.7GHz machine with 2 GB ram, local replicas and its really slow. I'm sure it runs great on any dual core machine or a machine that is over 3GHz... But you'll still need the ram.

1. I'll take horsepower and power management over quiet any day of the week. My computer room has a door. It works well. 2. If the HP chassis is properly configured (which is not rocket science), the fans only kick into high gear when it is fully loaded and all nodes are running at 100% CPU (a very unlikely scenario). 3. HP's superior performance and system management help my business more than IBM's marketing fluff.

Havent tested C3000 but we have 5 C7000 and they are nowhere near that loud unless you degrade to cooling system, using a failed fan, removing a fan etc.

what a load of BS, I went to a trade show last week and you could hardly hear the c3000even though it was fully loaded. My guess is that IBM is not playing fair and did not load the helath drivers. Teh BladeSystem S was at the same conference and looked like an old fridge on its side, HP has a much better offering in Tower version too, no wonder they have twice the market share of IBM now. On this performance how long until IBM sells this off to Lenovo too..

Hello Jill2625, IBM focuses on the sound differences in this video because some of our clients have told us that loud servers are extremely distracting in their offices. I'm glad to hear that you did not experience issues with noise. We tested both IBM and HP's systems in our acoustics lab and our tests were validated by a third party acoustics expert. Who cares about the sound? We only care about the POWER CONSUMPTION. HP C3000 gives you more bang for the buck. Very modular. We can plug in Compute and/or Storage blades in one enclosure with GIGE or Infiniband or FC connectivity.

Answers to your questions: 1. IBM BladeCenter S = 63dB, HP BladeSystem c3000 = 70dB. 2. Administrators do not wear noise cancellation equipment. IBM offers an acoustic attenuation module for their BladeCenter E chassis that reduces the noise level by up to 6dB. 3. These model of blade chassis are developed for SMB customers who may not have a sophisticated datacenter. The original design was for a small office environment, thus the need for a quiet product.

Video is crap. We have a c3000 chassis in our office and it is NO WHERE near that loud. They must of inserted the microphone into the blade chassis. In our office we dont have a computer room.; this sits in a corner near my desk and I can barely hear it. Videos like this make me laugh.

Its so blatantly obvious that the IBM Blade Server S is a FAAAAAAAR superior product. How HP sells a single config of this garbage system is a mystery to me. I would easily pay more for the Blade system. If it werent for HPs $200 PC market funding their server organization I wouldnt see them last for more then a year.

If you only run the software while already using your computer, the increase in power use is negligible. World Community Grid say it is equivalent to a low energy lightbulb - a few watts. Their default setting of 60% of your processor is specifically designed for laptops, to ensure they don't overheat. Other BOINC projects will use 100% by default, and that isn't a good setting for a laptop. There is more about power use on the World Community Grid website.

I'm running BOINC on my laptop. After leaving it for a while the computer heats up. It didn't used to do that before I ran BOINC. If it heats up, by Joule's law, it means more electricity is used up. Therefore, yes, your electricity bill will slightly increase as a result. I guess it depends on whether you believe this world community grid is actually helping, or is just a waste of time and electricity. And bigger electricity usage means more pollution. A bit of a joke, really.

Hey, so when you go to the bathroom or go to the kitchen to get a cup of coffee you shutdown your computer??? Ok, come on, you can setup the agent to work only when the computer is running the screensaver and you are out for some minutes. It does not cost a dime, but can save a life.

Projects such as World Community Grid do not ask you to change how you use your computer. They simply run at lowest priority on your system and use the processing capacity that isn't used on your computer while you browse the web or read email. It is a very worthwhile endeavor and I encourage you to join!
