yep, you said that britain wasnt powerful enough to invade anyone on its own, therefore i threw in "or promoted". But if they were capable, i highly doubt they'd do it. The war in the Falklands does however prove that Britain is capable of defeating a mediocre military power (with 25 years old rusty warplanes and no navy). But in the modern day, being the world's dominant power is a responsibility and burden, but the Bush admin has done a horrible job at maintaning it or even using it wisely.

It's a rather difficult question to ascertain what Britain, or rather British geostrategic interests, gained from the war in Iraq. But the economies and financial centres (and militaries) are heavily interlinked. Your second point doesn't add anything to what I said before - Britain isn't really powerful enough to invade anyone on it's own. The closest we have had to that in recent decades has been the war against Argentina, and now the decade-long military presence in Sierra Leone.

yes, britain was involved, but im unsure if the purpose was to gain anything, or to show balls for the americans, but that's another debate. Whatever the motive, let's not forget who planned, executed and did the main part of the invasion of Iraq. USA was. And another example: Iraq was partly because of 9/11, an attack on American soil by terrorists. when britain was attacked on its own soil by muslim terrorists 7/7 2004 did they invade a country for revenge? did they even promote it? Britain was also involved in the invasion of Iraq, didn't you realise? If you meant that the Brits quit invading stuff *on their own*, then you'd be more or less right. But all that proves is that Britain isn't powerful enough for that - as a state, it is intent on getting as much as it can from joining in American invasions. This shouldn't stop British or American people from having visions of fair and progressive societies, in fact quite the opposite.

hey, now. The american invasion of Iraq was in THIS century, the British invasion of Iraq was a World War 1 campaign agaisnt the Central Powers. The british also invaded Afghanistan during the IMPERIAL AGE. Let's see what the US was doing at the same time. Oh yeah, committing genocide agaisnt the Indians, invading Texas, and fighting the Mexicans over the western US. The US was just as brutal as the British were, but as the brits quit invading stuff around 50 years ago, the US hasn't.

I concur, but everyone always hates the new people. Ben Franklin hated the influx of Germans in his lifetime, saying that we'd all have to learn German. Actually, my German ancestor arrived during that period, to intermingle with my French, English and Native American ancestors. My Celtic forebears entered the country a little later, and they weren't exactly welcomed either, just like my Italian forefather. Just call me an all-American girl.

It's also the sin problem, because sin is death, as the scholar says. Christianity can become fixated on sin, corruption, and death. Viewed from the outside it can be a very grim religion. Again, you don't understand or care to understand humanism at all.
