That is actually correct. U-234 surrendered to the US and the Captain opted to keep the cargo intact rather than dump the load. It was headed for Japan, who many speculate were at a similiar development stage as the US. The final location of the cargo was not revealed, the time frame of the surrender in comparison to the time the bombs were dropped on Japan would mean an almost inheard of development speed for the final stages. Most think it was compared with what was already on hand.
