What most people may not remember is that the little glowing ball or whatever did not remain inside Ultra Magnus. It ended up with Hot Rod, the orange guy standing by Prime's head. After he took it he became Rodimus Prime and assumed the role of leader for the Autobots....

jup let dead heroes give them their deserve rest and not keep bringen them back to not milk them to death like burned out celebrities. Have to admit it took alot of balls from the writers back then to kill off a major lead character. And make Optimus Prime death quiet epic and memorably. If OP didnt had that death scene, i guess he wouldnt be that big Icon he is today. C`mon kids death is part of life..even for heroes

Yes, please do not go making comments of "Why would you cry it is just a cartoon." Many people love Optimus. and no matter how many times I watch this, it breaks my heart to see him in so much pain, and that he is dieing. I just can't handle it. It is too tragic, and his speech was SO beautiful, that even more tears erupted from my eyes. Optimus Prime forever, Autobot fans!

It's just so....sad....You can feel the soul of the robots in this one scene, you realized the are alive and have feeling, plus optimusid the robotic version of jesus for some fans so this scene is pretty hard, even for me, who was born on The Beast wars era and never even saw G1 at all

I'm not going to pretend to be a transformers fanboy but you have to admit this was powerful stuff for a kids show, you're an ignorant piece of shit if you can't see that. Hell try naming 4 other cartoons with onscreen deaths of a major character, not easy to do is it? There's also a twisted irony to it all. The main reason they killed characters off in the first place was to sell a new line of toys no-one already had, but instead they just made the fans like the lost characters even more.
