Just a thought here, this could all be due to simple incompetence. We are talking about voting systems overseen by "public officials", planned and constructed by government employees, conducted by volunteers, and tabulated by machines. I live in Florida. I cannot believe your local governments as well as the state is managed and run any more competently than it is here, if you get my meaning. I suppose the fix could be in, but the alternative I presented sure would carry water here.

I live in NY. Same thing happened. Both my wife and I changed party affiliation to vote Ron Paul in mid-Aug. Snail mail to avoid easy deletion. No matter. 'You cannot vote because you are reg. Independent.' My wife conceded but I contested. After 40+min. of floundering , 3 calls to BOE I finally cast a provisional. Treated contemptuously , I wasn't surprised.?

From the comments section, it looks like this happened to a lot of folks in several different states. In the future, request an absentee ballot. This was my first time ever voting and this method was super simple, convenient, and no worries about registration "surprises" at the polling booth. Plus, it leaves a paper trail.

I listened to the local neocon radio station tonight. They have been deluged for 24 hours with calls from people who said they had to vote provisionally because their affliation was recorded incorrectly. Many had recently moved into the state, but others had been here for decades. He gave a phone number to call the Calif Secretary of State: 1 800 345 VOTE and press 2.

Jive, my husband said he is so sorry that after all your campaigning for Ron Paul that they didn't allow you to vote. That is sad. But, we've always enjoyed your videos. We are at a loss for words. California is a MESS, except for all the illegals voting. I'm sure they bent over backwards to make sure they didn't "discriminate". It is truly pathetic---the motor voter bill is still in effect, isn't it? This is one sick state.

I was in Orange County and a lot of shady things happened there too. I have absolutely no confidence in the integrity of the process after last night. They need to get busted.

Perhaps its time to put the lawyers to work. File a lawsuit and under the FOIA get the voter registration records and see who was allowed to vote and those who cast provisional ballots. Good luck. I hope your "provisional" ballot was counted. If not, get in their face.
