Ueshiba lived an incredible life, if he hadn't founded Aikido, his exploits in his early life alone, as a young man in Japan and in the military as well as a dangerous political excursion into China would be worthy of note. Read any biography of him and be prepared to be amazed. One of the main features of aikido is taking your opponents momentum and using it against them. (i am only 14 and quite small 4 my age, but i can throw people much bigger than me). When i first saw an aikido demonstration, i also thought that the 'students' or uke, were cooperating. I now know that the uke must cooperate in this way to avoid getting hurt.

it looks like a dance for someone maybe... but its very effective. Im Aikido student and i can say : you can beat stronger opponent. You use his energy against him. Students were cooperating cause aikido isnt offensive art. You must be atacked before you use technique.
