I was at this concert that they taped the video for this. Bed of Roses was the number one video that week as Jon made a statement about it and he said that we all could be apart of the next number one if we wanted to. The keep the faith tour. Madison WI. Arcade was the opener which was part Cinderella and part Ratt. Great warm up but they only had one song that was known at the time. This was a great concert as they played after the show and the total time was about 8 hrs, EVERY SONG!

Yep mic, I do think SP sounds a lot like Sam Cooke, especially when he happens to sing a SC song, but I don't think he's copying him. I just think that's his voice. I also don't think AP is copying SP, he just happens to sound a lot like him, esp. when he sings a JRNY/SP song. It's inevitable. akw-I'm sure that's why she put the word in quotes. Although most Portuguese people are light(white) in skin color, they don't really consider themselves "white" in the American/European sense of the word. SP, like most Portuguese people have a very 'Mediterranean look'. Also, it was in response to someone who brought race into the conversation as a reason for not liking AP. To me, SP sounds more 'black' than anything else, and thank goodness 'cause I love that sound.

The UK chart is, as far as I'm concerned, the only reliable chart left. Look at our top 40 here in America. None of it can scarcely even be considered music. They're not putting stuff like THIS on the radio anymore. All the really great new music is coming out of Europe. As long as Capitol, Arista, BMG, and Clear Channel are calling the shots on who can and can't get airplay and it's all about the bottom line, American music and artistic freedom is dead. Europe is where to look now.

comparing arnel to steve perry..if you listen to their voices its even..the difference is that in 1981 in this video the band sounds alot more cleaner..more crisp...so you can hear perry alot better..in chile in 2008 the band muffled arnel's voice a bit....the band sounded better here but perry and arnel both sounded great when they sang...go manny..kick oscar's ass next week...

I tried singing this song for karaoke and I was doing really good until the key change at the end. It goes up a full-step higher. That's when I lost support and hehe it came out all whiny and shit. Steve Perry will never sing with Journey again, that is true. Not only because he does not want to, but also because he knows he couldn't sing as he did 20 years ago. Even SP is human, and vocal cords age. The problem is that the new guy is a copy. He is the best copy they could get, he is actually a great singer, and yet he can't touch SP's original work. Besides, it makes clear that the band didn't want a real singer, just a xerox of SP, which makes the whole deal so forced and fake.

It's fast for one of two reasons! 1.A lot of bands prefer to play some songs faster live! 2. Many bands get pumped up live and with all that adrenaline flowing they play things faster and don't even know it!

Just watched the whole concert on DVD. This was the last song (the 2nd song of their little encore). He kicked it out like it was nothing, after having just sang a 17-song-set. They call him The Voice for a reason, folks. Steve Perry is the real deal... simply the best!!

I think the band lost its best sound when Rollie left the band..Not saying they didnt reach higher plateau after Cain replaced him...The essence of the song structures have lacked since Rollies departure..It was Rollies vocal tracks that most guys liked singing along to since Perry isnt the easiest to sound like..Infinity , evolution & departure all had a certain spirit & sound that disappeared when Rollie left..He is an excellent songwriter & singer...

This is another one of my favorite Journey songs. I love Greg and Steve trading vocals, they compliment each other. I have to laugh at Neil's jump/split in the air at the beginning, reminds me of David Lee Roth, LOL! This is such a catchy tune and never seems to age.
