What a beautiful animal.

CattyCatRanch, We provide year round air-conditoned dens for our two snow leopards, Hercules and Cloe, So if they want to escape the heat they can. Rescue centres don't really operate in the same way zoos do, it would cost alot of money that we don't have to send them to a sanctuary that as cooler weather, for little benefit our cats are out alot in the morning and evenings and throughout the day, plus Florida gets nice and cool in the fall/winter season.

All cats are perfect, but snow lepards are the most glorious of all. I know BCR works in the best interest of cats - but I wonder why these snow lepards aren't in a rescue a colder region, say Wisconsin.

yeah snow leopards don't roar that's like totally wrong but i love it anyways
By: heynowcomeon. on 02 Nov 08, 03:18:08
I have no idea how people can willingly kill these creatures. Look at them; they're beautiful!
By: BigCatRescue. on 23 Oct 08, 16:04:32
I Hope these guys are still around for a long time too, thanks for the comment.

I like the incentive to stop farmers from hunting. But i still think hunters can easily hide a Leopard when they kill one. We need to help them find better ways of keeping the leopards away from their cattle alltogether. Or to have better fences or something... I just hope my kids live in a world with all the Beutiful Cats
By: Sephiroth139. on 19 Oct 08, 22:55:11
Snow leopards can't roar, but at about 24 or 25 sec into this video you can hear the tail end (no pun intended) of a growl. They are pretty, aren't they? ^-^
By: MelancholicAlchemist. on 18 Oct 08, 14:39:17
i luv wild cats and the snow leopard is beautiful!
By: bagheera363. on 13 Oct 08, 09:00:07
Such spectacular animals! It is sad and frightening to think that future generations may only see these cats in textbooks. A lot of people get upset when they have to think/deal with financial aspects of conservation, but unfortunately in many parts of the world rare animals, like the snow leopard, are seen as pests and without strong financial incentive to preserve them all efforts to protect them would fail. I applaud Snow Leopard Trust and similar organizations for their efforts.

They're so beautiful! I've been following the process of the Snow Leopard trust for some time now, and it's hard because not only do I live in Canada but I have no way of providing financial help even though I really want to! I would give anything to be able to go down and help organizations like them! And on a side note... is it true that Snow Leopards can't growl?
By: megaman2160. on 22 Sep 08, 17:16:24
we have snow leopards at our zoo here in michigan. two of em. anyway they are wonderful creatures and i hate to see that these people speak good about the animals like they really care but knowing they care about the money
By: guitarnublet. on 21 Sep 08, 20:32:44
These are the most beautiful animals on earth. They've driven cheetah's of my nr. 1 favourite animal of all times.
By: guitarnublet. on 21 Sep 08, 20:31:43
They're talking relatively I presume. That's like saying walibi's don't have big tails cuz walibi's are small.
By: supersandor. on 14 Sep 08, 19:52:46
Its tail isn't so enormous, it just has really short feet. A leopard's tail is longer.
By: BoxerMuscleMilk. on 14 Sep 08, 11:49:20
they will not go ixtinct, anyone found killing any species is prohibited and we be tarnishes and probably thrown in jail
By: Animalluver849. on 13 Sep 08, 04:53:46
the Snow leopard is an amazing animal i wish i could meet one.
By: SiruselVaranus. on 12 Sep 08, 17:20:47
Yes they are, although there is some debate as to how much. Recent genetic studies suggest that they are closely related to cats in the genus Pantera and might have evolved from leopards or a leopard like cat. Some zoologists refer to them their own genus, Uncia uncia while others prefer to put them in the genus Pantera with Uncia as something of a subgenus and uncia as the species.
By: cybernako088. on 07 Sep 08, 20:33:23
Its my third favorite kitty. Its the cat with the massive tail. love it. If they go extinct i will very sad.
By: ataru14. on 02 Sep 08, 13:21:30
I didn't know that... that's really sad!
By: BigCatRescue. on 01 Sep 08, 20:13:25
Ataru14, much of the point against wearing fur is the terrible conditions in which the animals are kept and the inhumane ways of killing. The lives & deaths of animals at fur farms is often much worse even than in puppy mills.
By: leahwages. on 29 Aug 08, 17:15:49
gorgeous
By: ataru14. on 29 Aug 08, 11:38:55
I'm not sure but I think you need some of the skin too (with the hair follicles) for fur coats and whatnot. Still, people should be way more respectful of killing the animals. Maybe killing a few here and there is OK, food chain has to go on, but they should not be NEAR becoming extinct; that is definitely killing way too many.
By: Hellonx. on 28 Aug 08, 17:54:14
some people are just pure crap. all they care about is making money and don't give a damn that they are destroying such wonderful animals. unfortunate it is as this might be one of those stories with a sad ending. and yet there is hope - like the aligators in florida, one day we may hear the roar of mountain ghost again.
