Johnny Carson - Jimmy Stewart - Beau Poem Posted by: spockster59
Video duration: 231 seconds After posting the "No More Milk" poem with Jimmy Stewart on Johnny Carson, people were asking to see the "Bo" poem. This is it. (Note: It has been brought to my attention the proper spelling for Bo is actually Beau and the title has been duly corrected. Thanks all :) Display Video Comments | Hide Video Comments | Add Comment Latest comments made on this video:

Johnny Carson - Jimmy Stewart - No More Milk Poem Posted by: spockster59
Video duration: 201 seconds While hunting for other material from an old tape, I ran across this segment. For people who watched Carson regularly, you may recall Jimmy Stewart would show up with a poem from time to time. I got a kick out of those so I'm posting this little segment which I'm simply calling the "No More Milk (Blues)" Poem. Cheryl Bentyne - Parker's Mood Posted by: spockster59
Video duration: 212 seconds The Manhattan Transfer performed for Soundstage back in 1980. Part of this performance features Cheryl doing a solo of Parker's mood. I saw the show when it was broadcast, this piece was not a part of it but was packaged in the not "long-in-print" version that came out a couple of years later. Enjoy. I Love this poem, Jimmy Stewart is one of my favorit poets. And Johnny Carson I love his show. There just isn't a late night show as good as Johnny Carson's. He's the master of the late night show.

Yes, he did. I saw a special on PBS about Jimmy Stewart, Johnny Carson narrated it & interviewed him, and they showed a clip of Jimmy reading the Junin poem on Johnny's show. I just can't find that clip anywhere.

Off the top, no. Do you recall if he ever did it on Carson?

The one and only Jimmy (James) Stewart ... There aren't actors around like that anymore. Same goes for Johnny Carson ... class act ... Never got political with his shows. Thank God!

Jimmy Stewart is telling us what C.S. Lewis did in his book "The Four Loves", not to speak of Narnia; that animals too have an immortal soul and it is a privilege to come close to these members of God's creation. I hope we human animals can do better in giving them the love and respect they deserve. Thanks for posting, great tribute to Jimmy Stewart and the incomparable Johnny Carson.

one more thing. i think the one of the great things of this poem is when mr. stewart starts out the audience thinks its going to be a comedy bit. then it slows and they get alittle bored and wondering where this is going. then he he says now he,s dead and a small snicker from the audience , then the emotional impact of mr. stewart hits them. shows the greatness of jimmy stewart.thankyou jimmy for giving the world a great poem!thankyou!

I know how he felt. I had a dog for 14 years. Her name was Frosty. In her last days she would howl a lot. She grew blind and was almost totally deaf. When i picked her up she would yelp from pain. I drew up all the courage I could and took her to the Vet. I held her as the doctor put her down. Frosty wagged her tail a little and licked my hand. It was if she was saying thanks and good bye. I wept so much. But I'm glad I was there for her. I sure do miss Frosty.
